❤️ Health and Damage

How the BTR takes damage, why it shrugs off bullets, and how to tune how tough it is. All settings live in the Health block of a preset (field table in Configuration Reference).

"Health": {
    "MaxHealth": 5000.0,
    "ArmorMultiplier": 1.0,
    "BulletDamageMultiplier": 0.0,
    "ExplosionRadius": 15.0,
    "DeathExplosionAmmo": "Explosion_40mm_Ammo"
}

🛡️ The two armor knobs

  • ArmorMultiplier — a single global multiplier on all incoming damage. 1.0 = full damage, 0.3 = takes 30%, 0.0 = invulnerable.
  • BulletDamageMultiplier — applies on top, but only to bullets (firearm rounds). 0.0 = immune to bullets, 1.0 = bullets do full damage.

Effective bullet damage ≈ raw × ArmorMultiplier × BulletDamageMultiplier. Explosives/grenades ignore BulletDamageMultiplier and use only ArmorMultiplier.

Important

With the default BulletDamageMultiplier: 0, rifles and machine guns do nothing to the BTR — only explosives, grenades and rockets hurt it. This is intentional (it's an armored vehicle). To let bullets chip it, raise BulletDamageMultiplier toward 1.0.

💥 What actually damages it

Source Damages the BTR?
Rifle / MG bullets Only if BulletDamageMultiplier > 0
Explosives, grenades, rockets, RPGs ✅ Always (scaled by ArmorMultiplier)
Another BTR's coaxial MG ❌ No (it's bullet fire, and BTRs default to bullet-immune)
Another BTR's cannon ✅ Yes — via the shell's explosion (requires Turret.ExplosiveCannon: 1)

Note

This is why in Faction System duels the machine guns look harmless and only the cannon lands real hits. Keep Turret.ExplosiveCannon at 1 for BTRs to be able to kill each other.

🎚️ Tuning toughness

Goal Settings
Any rifle can take it down MaxHealth: 2500, ArmorMultiplier: 1.0, BulletDamageMultiplier: 1.0
Explosives-only armored beast MaxHealth: 12000, ArmorMultiplier: 1.0, BulletDamageMultiplier: 0.0
Faster BTR-vs-BTR duels Lower MaxHealth (e.g. 2000) and/or raise ArmorMultiplier
Near-invulnerable set-piece ArmorMultiplier: 0.1

The shipped example presets use ArmorMultiplier: 1.0. Difficulty templates set different MaxHealth/armor — see Difficulty Templates.

🧨 On death

When the BTR dies it triggers an explosion (DeathExplosionAmmo) with radius ExplosionRadius, then spawns a burning wreck with loot and defenders. The death blast can catch anything nearby — including other BTRs — so wrecks can chain in a tight brawl.

More damage-related knobs (accuracy, ranges, explosive cannon) are on the Turret in Configuration Reference. Loot and defenders after death: see the Loot and Defenders sections there.
