Inside a Tower
Applies to Arcane Towers 0.0.0-beta.6 for Minecraft 1.21.1 (NeoForge).
Every tower has the same shape: a climbable tower above ground and a dungeon underneath it, joined by a sealed central shaft.
The entrance is an open archway on the north face, at ground level. There is no door to open and nothing to pick; walk in.
Inside, stairs wind up and back around a 4×4 central shaft that goes straight down. There are four storeys with creatures and loot, six blocks apart, each holding a chest and one or two spawner points. A fifth level sits above the shaft, sealed off at the top.
Because the shaft is capped, the way down is not from the very top of the tower. It opens at the fourth storey.
Stepping into the shaft drops you around 30 blocks to the bottom of the dungeon entrance. There is a water pool waiting at the bottom, which breaks your fall — you land rather than die, as long as you go down the water.
This is the intended route. The tower does not want you to leave, and the only way out is down.
Below is a dungeon of halls and corridors, built in stages:
entry → stage 1 → stage 2 → stage 3 → end hall
↘ side rooms ↗
Side rooms branch off and dead-end. The layout is staged rather than branching, so a dungeon is a sequence of connected halls with the occasional side branch, and every third piece has a fallback that keeps generation going if one piece cannot be placed.
The corridors and halls are crawling with the undead. Expect to be attacked the whole way down, not only at the end.
The last hall holds two things: the vault chest, and the guardian that wakes when you step into it. There is exactly one guardian per tower and it does not respawn.
This is where the expedition ends. The Exit Stone is in this hall.
Until you use the Exit Stone, the tower is protected: you cannot break its blocks, place blocks inside it, pour fluids into it, or blow it open. Attempting to do any of those gives you the message:
This place is sealed by an ancient force.
This protection is per tower, not global — unsealing one tower leaves every other tower sealed.
In creative mode you can bypass the seal by default. A server owner can change that; see Compatibility.
