Transfer Rules
Applies to Storage Bridge (Functional Storage) 0.0.0-beta.1 for Minecraft 1.21.1 (NeoForge).
Every destination in this mod has a different rule, and the rules are deliberately asymmetric. This page is the part worth reading before you start moving things.
Two of the three destinations would be dangerous if they accepted anything you offered.
- An enchantment Library is a sink. Books go in and are consumed.
- A Sophisticated Storage chest is whatever you have already put in it.
So the mod errs towards moving nothing rather than moving the wrong thing. It will not find a container and empty your inventory into it just because the container was nearby.
| Destination | Accepts | Refuses |
|---|---|---|
| Apothic-Enchanting Library | minecraft:enchanted_book |
everything else |
| Sophisticated Storage chest/barrel | items it already holds a matching stack of | anything not already present |
| Apotheosis Gem Case | unsocketed gems | socketed gems, non-gems |
Any minecraft:enchanted_book stack in your inventory is moved into the Library. No other item is.
This is one-way and unrecoverable. The Library consumes what it accepts. There is no way to pull a book back out — not with this mod, not by other means.
A chest or barrel is a target only if it already contains a matching stack of the item.
An empty chest is never a target. That means:
- To seed a chest, put one item of each type you want moved into it first.
- To withdraw through this mod: not possible. The direction is into the container.
The upside is that a chest full of stone will never receive your diamonds by accident.
Unsocketed gem stacks are forwarded. Anything that is not a valid gem is rejected by the Gem Case's own capability rather than by this mod — which means the rules stay correct even if Apotheosis changes what counts as a gem.
Socketed gems are not loose items and are not moved, so do not expect a socketed gem stack to transfer.
All three are one-way, into the destination. Nothing in this mod moves items out of a Library, out of a chest, or out of a Gem Case.
Everything in your inventory that matches a rule for the chosen destination. There is no per-gesture limit and no partial transfer — the eligibility rules decide, and then it all moves.
The controller's linked blocks are searched for eligible containers and the mod deposits into one of them, not spread across all of them.
Because eligibility differs per handler, an "empty" chest is passed over while a Gem Case that will accept something is considered — so you do not need to unlink containers to aim the gesture at a particular one.
The same click that triggers these bridges also performs Functional Storage's own insertion. This mod adds targets; it does not replace the controller's normal behaviour.
So after a right-click you may find items both in the target container and inserted by Functional Storage. That is expected.
Sort your enchanted books into the Library
Empty your enchanted books into your inventory, then right-click the Controller. All of them go. There is no filtering by enchantment — it is every enchanted book you are carrying.
Seed a Sophisticated Storage chest from drawers
- Put one item of each type you want in the chest.
- Move your stacks to those types.
- Right-click the Controller.
Load unsocketed gems into a Gem Case
Carry the loose gems, right-click the Controller. The Gem Case rejects anything that is not a gem, so you cannot misload it this way.
- Nothing matched a rule. The rules above are strict by design.
- You were sneaking, so the Controller's GUI opened instead.
- You clicked a drawer rather than the Controller or a Controller Extension.
- The target is not linked to the controller within the Linking Tool's range.
- The destination refused the item. Both the Library and the Gem Case validate and can decline.
