Actionable feedback

On 31 August we conducted an evaluation session of our concept using a paper prototype of our concept.

Paper Prototype 2

Local News Paper Prototype 1

We obtained a wide range of feedback:

A nice challenge will be how do you make the news easily digestible, so people aren't reading in silence. The news articles need to be brief and starters for conversation. I like the idea of news augmenting the conversation.

I think it would be good recording yourselves having some conversations about news at a specific locations, and then see how the conversation could have been augmented. – checking ambient noise and ability to converse.

Another good feed is the CIA world factbook

You could add something like the live 'we feel' twitter emotion analysis (http://wefeel.csiro.au/#/). The possibility to have a login to a social media account. The possible ways the information user see can be shared - screen shot and/or email.

University learning centres might be another location for installation.

Local news (local = area near where the table is installed) could be involved more e.g. local news is displayed by default

Can users delete the history of what news they have read, for privacy? (Trending or most popular trending – big dreaming)

It could be used for educational purpose, which allows teachers to deliver journalism information to students.

The ability to switch news by twisting table - an emotional user experience. Dragging news to the centre to list the priority of news, then more users will focus some important news.

icons(buttons) are quite a lot in the main page, I can see various of social communication application icons and other kind of applications. I would recommend to minimise those labels and make some categories instead;

Grant : Invest time into exploring interactions. On FB comment that is sad leaves room for ambigiuiity.

Asynchromatic interaction – you can be able to explore with a lot of interactions because you are there in a social environment.

We used this feedback to inform our next design. We incorporated a number of elements into that design to support a more open interaction to encourage interaction between people using the table.
