Getting started

Install

  1. Download the x86_64 Linux AppImage from Releases.
  2. Make the file executable and open it.
  3. In Settings, install the Nexus backend and Nexus runtime.
  4. Sign in with your Microsoft account.

You need a valid game purchase or subscription. Compatibility varies by game; check Compatibility before downloading a large title.

Passkey sign-in

If Microsoft sign-in waits on a passkey or security key, choose Continue in browser in the sign-in window. Google Chrome must be installed on the computer; other browsers are not supported for this option. Requires launcher 0.3.3 or newer.

SteamOS

Use launcher 0.3.2 or newer with backend 0.2.3 or newer. They use the launcher's own sign-in window and activate the installed KDE keyring when needed, without modifying the read-only system partition. Complete any keyring setup or unlock prompt.

Application-menu installation

On supported Arch-based, Debian/Ubuntu and Fedora systems, this installer sets up the launcher and its desktop entry:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/domsvoboda/xodus-nexus/main/scripts/install.sh | bash

On SteamOS, use the AppImage instructions above instead of changing system packages.

Find and install games

My Library shows owned, Game Pass and locally installed games. Use Access, Play state and title search to narrow the list. Owned means purchase access, not subscription access.

Use Store to browse the full catalog. Only supported PC packages with a verified license can be installed. Install Queue provides progress, pause, resume and errors.

For installed games, Manage content lists related campaign and add-on packages. Install the licensed content you need, then restart the game.

Play and manage games

Select Play in My Library. Right-click a game to browse its files, change settings, install VC++ prerequisites, create shortcuts or remove it.

Install launcher, backend and runtime updates from Settings. Check game updates in My Library checks installed game versions.

Troubleshooting

  • Sign-in: complete Microsoft and desktop-keyring prompts. Check that the launcher and backend are up to date.
  • VC++ required: right-click the game and select Install / update VC++.
  • Installation or launch failure: open an issue with the game name, exact error, component versions and distribution.

Keep verbose logging disabled unless requested. Remove credentials, tokens and private paths before sharing logs. Never attach game files or saves.
