HABSIAD
Habsiad is a productivity plugin for the Obsidian note-taking application.
It is opinionated in the sense that it establishes some predefined standards in order for it's functionality to operate well but aims to be as modular as possible within these confines.
Habsiad was developed over time to be the bridge between Obsidian and the gamified todo-list application known as Habitica but it can not be overstated that Habsiad is still a complete productivity suite that functions regardless of whether or not you are using Habitica daily, often or at all. Habitica can be lauded for good UI and modularity (as well as functional API to boot) whereas similar applications rarely have the features that most people need such as mobile AND web accessibility, the ability to set your "start time of day" and more.
Development of Habsiad started with a list of "missing featueres" from trying to use only Obsidian and Habitica as a productivity stack.
Habitica, aside from its gamification and community features, mainly operate by handling three relevant stacks. The Habits, The Dailies and the TODO's.
- Habits are things that are generally good to do as often as you can(within sane moderation)
- Dailies exist as things you want to be penalized for not achieving every day.
- TODO's are unique one-off things, that can also have subtasks.
With Habsiad you can type in Habitica API credentials and import your achieved Habits & Dailies FROM Habitica INTO your Obsidian journal entry. This rectifies the single biggest flaw with Habitica, being that it does not store your progress over time.
But that is far from everything that Habsiad allows you to do.
I think it will be easier to explain what Habsiad does in order to better explain what it is.
- Habsiad requires that you have a folder called
JOURNALorJournalorjournalin your Vault root in Obsidian. - In it you place your TEMPLATED daily journal entries with the following standard:
YYYY-MM-DD.md(I recommend using liamcains Calendar plugin for convenience). - Utilizing the specified template and working within its frame is required to leverage what Habsiad offers.
- More specific information about the template and how to get started HERE
- You can sync your Habits and Dailies from Habitica into Obsidian
- You can sync the data in your Habitica TODO-list, one-way, from Habitica to Obsidian
- The weekday of your journal template will be automatically updated by Habsiad
- With the powerful Data Quality Diagnostics you can get a birds eye view of your journal entries and their data quality.
- With Frontmatter Glossary you can sync your Habits & Dailies recorded that day over into Obsidian frontmatter (for graph plotting et. c.). You simply enter the name of your Habits and Dailies into the glossary and it stores in a
.jsoninside of Habsiad. - You can create so called "Labels" to track occurences of things in your day to allow you to plot progress/results over time.
- With the Logs-feature you can integrate "logs within your daily journal entries" according to your defined needs. Workout logs, Dream logs... sky is the limit!
- THE RETROTAGGER allows you to utilize the stored "Habits & Dailies" and offers a neat UI in order to retroactively enter "Habits & Dailies" at the end of any journal entry. This feature was developed as it is easy to forget to log from Habitica and Habitica does not accurately store dates retroactively. Even if it did this feature also serves to emancipate anyone from "having to need to use Habitica" at all in order to leverage the power of Habsiad! If you prefer "productivty without the gamification" but still enjoy the "achivement based"-format, this is your plugin!
- The optional features can be toggled on or off depending on whether or not they are desired by the user.
- Steps allows you to manually input your step count for that day from sources like Google Fit, Samsung Health, Zepp Life et. c. and the count will store in frontmatter to be easily used with things like the Tracker Plugin from Pyrochlore.
- Weight functions much the same way but for logging your weight in kilograms. Stores in frontmatter.
- Calories also functions in the same way but comes with the "Calculate totals"-button that reads your Food-log from every journal entry and syncs it into your total caloric intake for that day. Stores in frontmatter as well.
- Alcohol is a feature-tab that scans through your journal entries and linearly lists emojis that correspond with alcohol intake, giving you a graphically represented total of the alcohol consumption of any given date.
