Handicap changes apply only during the current battle. The Players keep their normal Pokemon after the battle.
Team clauses treat both Players as one combined team. A choice made by one Player can block a conflicting Pokemon for the other Player.
| Handicap | Result |
|---|---|
| Reduced team size | Removes available team slots from each Player. |
| Lower Player Pokemon levels | Lowers battle levels or matches the strongest enemy. |
| Base-stat total limit | Blocks Pokemon above the selected BST. |
| Moves per Pokemon | Limits how many current moves enter the battle. |
| Starting health percentage | Starts allied Pokemon with reduced health. |
| Starting PP percentage | Starts allied moves with reduced PP. |
| No status moves | Removes status-category moves for this battle. |
| No bag items | Blocks bag item use. |
| No held items | Disables held items. |
| No legendaries / mythicals / Ultra Beasts | Blocks those groups during selection. |
| Only Pokemon from | Allows exactly one selected generation. |
| Only Pokemon through | Allows generations up to the selected generation. |
| Clause | Result |
|---|---|
| No duplicate Pokemon | The same species may appear only once across both Players. |
| No duplicate type sets | The same complete type combination may appear only once. Sharing one type is allowed. |
| No repeated types | Every individual type may appear only once. Dual-type Pokemon reserve both types. |

| Mode | Result |
|---|---|
| Off | Keeps the normal Trainer team and hides the dependent randomizers. |
| Partial | Keeps each species but allows moves, abilities and items to be randomized. |
| On | Randomizes the species and allows moves, abilities and items to be randomized. |
| Mode | Result |
|---|---|
| Off | Keeps the moves. |
| Only Legal | Uses unique moves the final species can legally obtain. |
| Any Standard | Uses moves found in normal learnsets and excludes gimmick-only moves. |
| Unrestricted | May use any registered move, including special-mechanic moves. |
- Only Legal: chooses an ability available to that species and form.
- On: chooses any registered ability, even if the result is normally illegal.
- Random: chooses a random standard battle item.
- Competitive: chooses an item suited to the final species, moves and ability.
| Mode | Result |
|---|---|
| Standard | Uses the original Trainer choice with basic protection against obvious allied waste. |
| Strategic | Keeps the original move but improves targeting, damage estimates, status use and team coordination. |
| Competitive | May choose another move from the current moveset when it predicts a clearly better action. |
Competitive AI never rerolls or replaces the Pokemon's moveset during the battle. It chooses only from the moves already available when the battle started.
