Start with FM Radio and one strong local station. It is the fastest way to separate a general SDR or audio problem from a specialized feature problem.
- Shut down or power off the Tab5.
- Check the RTL-SDR is connected to the Tab5 USB Host port.
- Reconnect the SDR and power on again.
- Start with FM and check the signal display before trying a more specialized dashboard.
- Confirm the mode and frequency are correct.
- Raise the header volume.
- Try a strong local FM station first.
- Open FM RF Health and look for underruns or USB overruns.
- If you need a deeper view, open RF Lab and check that the source is live before recording a short session to SD.
- Use a 1090 MHz antenna, preferably with a clear view of the sky.
- Set your receiver location in Settings.
- Check ADS-B Stats for incoming Mode-S activity.
- Remember the demo screenshots are not proof that aircraft are currently being received.
- Confirm the region, frequency, bandwidth, and spreading factor match local traffic.
- Use an antenna for the local LoRa band.
- Start monitoring, then check LoRa RF Health.
- Empty Nodes, Traffic, or Map pages are normal until verified traffic arrives.
Note the dashboard, frequency, antenna, what you expected, and what happened. A photo of the relevant health screen is often more useful than a description alone.
