TL;DR: The March 31, 2026 TSC call focused on community engagement opportunities, HIP process updates, and the ongoing website redesign. Code of Conduct

As in every meeting we start with a short notice of the antitrust policy of Linux Foundation and an introduction of our Code of Conduct.

Meeting Summary

  • Hendrik opened the meeting by welcoming both TSC members and public attendees, reiterating that Hiero meetings are open and recorded through the public calendar.
  • He gave a brief recap of the previous TSC call, which included David Boswell’s discussion on project naming and naming rights, a follow-up on namespace rules for publishing work across ecosystems, and the presentation of HIP-1193.
  • Jessica Gonzalez shared a community update inviting Hiero members to participate in RareEvo 2026 in Las Vegas, including the opportunity to run a technical workshop similar to Hendrik’s previous session.
  • Jessica also encouraged attendees to register for Hendrik’s online workshop in May, which will broaden access to the material he previously presented in person.
  • Hendrik reported that all four proposed Hiero projects were accepted into the LFX Mentorship Program, marking a strong first showing and creating new opportunities for students and newcomers to contribute.
  • The group encouraged broader community participation in public calls and continued use of LFDT Discord channels, especially for SDK, website, and general ecosystem discussions.
  • The agenda item on Angie’s proposed change to the HIP tracker was deferred because Angie was not present to introduce it.
  • On HIP governance, the TSC revisited HIP-1193, which had already been presented during the prior meeting. No additional questions were raised during this call.
  • Because the group could not conduct the vote live, Jessica created an asynchronous TSC vote for HIP-1193 during the meeting so members could vote over the following week. Hendrik also noted that public reactions remain visible even when only TSC votes count officially.
  • Mark Blackman shared that two additional HIPs are expected for presentation next week: HIP-1424 and HIP-1427. These will cover the Merkle structure of blocks and record wrapping for historical network data so pre- and post-block-stream data can align in a common format.
  • Hendrik then reviewed progress on the Hiero website migration to Next.js, noting that the site is already running on the new framework and that structural improvements are continuing.
  • He highlighted the new Contribute section as especially useful for onboarding, since it organizes beginner, intermediate, and advanced contribution opportunities and links directly to filtered GitHub issue lists.
  • Hendrik also shared an early designer draft for a broader website refresh and invited additional community feedback. Initial reactions were positive overall, though he noted concerns about the current header design.
  • He said the designer had already acknowledged the header issue and would prepare an updated revision, while feedback from the current round would be consolidated and sent back by the end of the week.
  • With no additional business raised, the meeting adjourned early.

Presentations

  • Website redesign preview: Hendrik walked attendees through the current state of the migrated Hiero website and previewed an early design concept for a future visual refresh.
  • HIP roadmap preview: Mark Blackman briefly previewed next week’s planned HIP presentations on block structure and record wrapping.

Key Decisions

  • HIP-1193 will be decided through an asynchronous TSC vote rather than a live in-meeting vote.
  • Angie’s proposed HIP tracker change was postponed to the following week due to her absence.
  • HIP-1424 and HIP-1427 are expected to be added to next week’s agenda for technical presentation and discussion.
  • Community feedback on the website redesign draft will continue to be collected and consolidated for the next design iteration.
