Canon and Characters
Full name: Violet (surname withheld — closed adoption, origin file redacted) Jersey number: 88 Weapon: Field hockey stick (spiked, modified)
An American forensics intern in London researching outcomes for children of women killed by domestic violence. Her research doubles as cover for quietly rebuilding her own redacted origin file.
The night Sophia and Solomon die and go unclaimed, Violet buries them. She is attacked and stabbed that same night, losing the ability to have children. She returns to work under office duty and hunts the Guilty using strict evidentiary rigor — acting only once guilt is procedurally confirmed.
Psychic ability: time/space synesthesia, alexithymia, dyslexia. See Game-Design for full mechanic detail.
Psychological arc — three stages: Stage 1 (pre-story): absorbs others' suffering, ties worth to being useful Stage 2 (most of the game): shifts from why is this happening to what is this asking me to become; builds her evidence-gated hunting persona Stage 3 (destination, triggered by the father reveal): holds the truth of her origin without absorbing it as identity; authority shifts from procedural to self-sovereign
Ringleader of the Guilty. Reality-control and gaslighting archetype — reframes violence as inevitable or deserved rather than arguing facts. Contrasted against Violet's fact-anchored forensic method.
A plausible neurological condition causes his moral center to collapse, compounded by lack of proper mental health care, overwork, and the actual stressors of his job. His passenger begins to go dark as a result.
Fabricates false records and testimony. His statement starts as truthful and innocent — he only begins lying after the Coroner points out that his report started the investigation. Destabilized by a recent breakup that turned out to have only been a hookup.
Bureaucratic cover. Keeps a ledger of who is owed. Failed the exam for Violet's forensic role himself — his self-concept requires believing his record-keeping is the uncredited substrate that makes her cases prosecutable. Fuels the Coroner's rage at Violet specifically by framing her reputation as unearned credit for work he considers his.
Physical enforcer and cleanup. Loyal out of belonging, not belief.
