Doom Runner Plus 2.0.5
Doom Runner Plus 2.0.5
Patch release of the Steam Deck-first Doom Runner Plus (fork of Doom Runner).
What's new in 2.0.5
- "Add to Steam" now warns when Steam is running — Steam reads its shortcuts only at startup and saves them back from memory when it exits, so a shortcut added while Steam is running can silently disappear. The button now detects a running Steam client and asks you to fully quit Steam before adding; the success message also spells out the quit → add → start order.

v2.0.4
fix(steam): create a valid shortcuts.vdf when no shortcuts exist yet The fresh-file path was missing the entry index key and the root map terminator, so Steam ignored the file entirely (worked only when there were already other shortcuts). Now verified by tests for all three cases: fresh file, append to existing, and duplicate-name dedup.
Doom Runner Plus 2.0.3
Doom Runner Plus 2.0.3
Patch release of the Steam Deck-first Doom Runner Plus (fork of Doom Runner).
What's new in 2.0.3
- Fixed "Add to Steam" wiping existing Steam shortcuts — the previous version parsed the whole
shortcuts.vdf, re-serialized it and wrote it back, which could silently drop all existing non-Steam shortcuts when the real file didn't match the parser's assumptions byte-for-byte. The file is now never rewritten from scratch: its structure is validated first, a new shortcut is appended as raw bytes while all existing entries stay byte-for-byte untouched, and the write is atomic (a crash can no longer leave the file half-written). - If a shortcut with the same name already exists, nothing is changed and the app now tells you so instead of silently updating or duplicating it.
Assets

Doom Runner Plus 2.0.2
Doom Runner Plus 2.0.2
Patch release of the Steam Deck-first Doom Runner Plus (fork of Doom Runner).
What's new in 2.0.2
- "Add to Steam" button — a new button next to "Launch!" registers the current final launch command as a non-Steam game shortcut in Steam (Linux only). The game can then be launched directly from Steam or Steam's Game Mode without opening the launcher. The suggested name is "<IWAD folder> (<engine>)" (e.g. "Supermap (GZDoom)") and can be confirmed or edited in a dialog. Restart Steam to see the new shortcut in your Library under "Non-Steam".
- Fixed the AppImage crash in Steam's Game Mode — the app was killed by the dynamic loader before it even started, because the bundled libproxy pulled in Steam's old
libcurl(missingCURL_OPENSSL_4) via its backend plugin. The bundled libproxy is now replaced by a dependency-free stub that always reports a direct connection — no launch-options workaround (env LD_LIBRARY_PATH= %command%) needed anymore.

- DoomRunner-2.0.2-Linux-x86_64-app.flatpak / -symbols.flatpak — sandboxed Flatpak bundles.
- DoomRunner-2.0.2-MacOS-arm64.dmg / MacOS-x86_64.dmg — macOS app images.
- DoomRunner-2.0.2-Windows-recent.x86_64.-static_exe.zip — static Windows executable.
Doom Runner Plus 2.0.1
Doom Runner Plus 2.0.1
Patch release of the Steam Deck-first Doom Runner Plus (fork of Doom Runner).
Changes since 2.0
- Helion source port support — new
Helionengine family (auto-detectedhelionexecutable), with Helion-accurate command-line handling and its own named+complevelcompatibility levels. nyan-doomis now recognized as a PrBoom-family port;+vid_fps/+vid_adapterare no longer passed to non-ZDoom ports. - MBF-family compatibility — ZDoom-style
+cvarsettings (+vid_fullscreen,+vid_vsync,+vid_widescreen,+vid_maxfps,+snd_*, renderer-gl/-vulkan, multiplayer+fraglimit/+teamdamage) are now disabled for MBF, PrBoom and other non-ZDoom ports so they can't break launching. - Version bumped to 2.0.1.

Doom Runner Plus 2.0
Doom Runner Plus 2.0
Steam Deck-first release of Doom Runner Plus, a fork of Doom Runner.
What's new in 2.0
- Helion source port support — new
Helionengine family. Auto-detected (helionexecutable), with Helion-accurate command-line support. Helion options that it doesn't understand (resolution, no-sound/no-sfx, respawn, monitor selection, show-FPS, resume-demo, multiplayer) are now disabled instead of breaking the launch. - Better PrBoom-family port handling —
nyan-doomis now recognized as a PrBoom-family port (was misdetected as Chocolate Doom). "Show FPS" (+vid_fps) and monitor selection (+vid_adapter) are ZDoom-only and are now disabled for PrBoom-based and other non-ZDoom ports (they rejected those arguments and failed to start). - WAD Downloader — the Cacowards and IdGames tabs are grouped under a dedicated tab, with a shared activity log, richer IdGames columns (sortable/show-hide), lazy /idgames resolution, randomized mirror fallback, and a Top Lists tab.
- Downloads never auto-added to presets — downloaded files are no longer automatically inserted into the current preset's mod list.
- Gamepad support — controller navigation of the whole UI (DSDA-Doom-aware gamepad toggle).
- Scalable UI — adjustable font size that scales on the Steam Deck, bigger Launch button.
- CI release builds — GitHub Actions build AppImage (Steam Deck-compatible, bundled Qt in an Ubuntu 24.04 container), plain zip, Flatpak, macOS DMGs and a Windows static executable.
- Green "Plus" app icon across all platforms.
- Steam Deck conveniences: automatic gamescope wrapping (with per-preset override), window geometry clamping, engine auto-detect for installed source ports.
- Packaged as version 2.0 (inherited from the 1.x line).
