4. Deconvolution Setting
The "Decon Setting" tab contains all the parameters for data preprocessing in the following STEPS:
1. Load Data
2. Upsample
3. Remove Saturation
4. Average Data
5. Remove Background
6. Truncate
7. Deconvolution
IMPORTANT!!! If you want to repeat or redo any of the steps using a different setting (parameter), you will need to RESTART from "Load Data". The program was written this way because keeping all the intermedia results of the data would take up too much PC memory. This is subject to change if we find this is not an issue in the future.
Click "Load Data" to load measurement data into the program. 100 examples waveform will be displayed. The displayed waveforms are chosen uniformly from low signal to high signal. The laser repetition rate will be displayed.
Upsample will upsample the raw data acquired at 2.5GS/s to 10GS/s and realign the waveforms using Constant fraction discriminator.
The remove saturation button will remove waveforms with low signal (peak voltage less than "low Threshold" edit field) and saturation (peak voltage higher than "High Threshold" edit field). Change the low and high threshold before click "Remove Saturation". A dialog box with information about the total number of waveforms, number of waveforms removed and number of waveforms left will be displayed. Figures will be updated to display resulting waveforms.
Click "average data" will average the waveforms based on the value of the "Data Average" drop-down menu. The figures will update to display averaged waveforms.
The "Remove BG" button will perform DC and background removal on averaged data. Use "BG remove Index"(Red Cursor) and "DC Remove Index"(Green Cursor) to choose the range for DC and BG removal.
The cursor for BG removal (red) should be placed such that the background plateau is between the two cursors.
The following figure shows a good DC and BG removal setting.
The "Truncate" button will truncate the waveforms according to the time window specified by the user. The start and end of the truncation are indicated by the cyan line. The magenta line indicates the estimated noise of the system. 20% of the truncation length will be before the waveform peak and 80% after the peak. Figures will be updated to display the resulting waveforms.
Please make sure at the end of the truncation (second cyan), the data is below the noise floor of the system (magenta line)!
Tip: Use the figure control to zoom in on the end of the truncation.
After pressing the "Truncation" button, the truncated waveform will be shown.
Use 'Ignore data range' to include the part of the data that should be excluded from the deconvolution algorithm. The green cursor shows the location of the start and the end of the range. If no data needs to be excluded, set both indexes to be 0.
Input the Laguerre order and use the dropdown manual to choose an appropriate alpha value for each channel.
The "Decon" button will start the deconvolution process. A progress bar will display the progression of the software. After deconvolution is finished, the program will switch automatically to the "Fitting Result" tab.
Use the exponential order to set the number of exponential terms for the multiexponential deconvolution algorithm.
