Help and Troubleshooting

Start with System Health inside GODSEYE. It shows service, scanner, database, backup, and integration status in one place. The checks below help narrow a problem before you ask for help.

The app does not open

Confirm you are on the trusted LAN or VPN and use http://YOUR-GODSEYE-IP:8080 unless HTTPS has been configured. On the server, check:

sudo systemctl status godseye-web
sudo systemctl status godseye-scanner
sudo journalctl -u godseye-web -n 100 --no-pager

From the extracted server package you can also run sudo ./install.sh --doctor. Share the result when opening an issue, after removing secrets and customer data.

Inventory or remote site looks empty

A fresh installation needs time to discover devices. Check scanner status and the network being scanned. For a linked site, confirm the remote HTTPS address is reachable over the existing VPN, check its certificate trust, refresh the site card, and make sure the remote administrator has not revoked the pairing.

A user cannot see a page or save a change

An Admin can review Users & Permissions. A sidebar item set to No access is hidden and blocked; Read only opens it but disables changes. Only Admins manage users and role permissions.

Backup or restore needs attention

Check disk space and backup status in System Health. The full backup ZIP contains the database, settings, and encryption key; keep it private. Use Full Backup & Server Restore to validate and restore it from within the app on a replacement server. Restart GODSEYE services afterward and use credentials from the restored backup. See Manage Your Workspace.

Windows Agent and remote support

Confirm the agent is enrolled and online. The Windows user must approve screen sharing; keyboard and pointer control require separate approval. Check the Windows Agent documentation for installation and enrollment details.

Ask the community or report a bug

Search open issues first. When filing a new issue, include the GODSEYE version, host OS, relevant screen, steps to reproduce, expected and actual behavior, and sanitized logs. Do not post passwords, API keys, full backup ZIPs, or customer data.
