How to use E2iPlayer with the remote control: the start screen, the lists inside a host, favourites, search and the coloured markers.
Tip: inside a host, BLUE → Help shows a short key overview on the TV.
- Plugin browser → E2iPlayer, or
- BLUE while watching TV (extension list) → E2iPlayer, or
- Main menu → E2iPlayer (if switched on).
Which of these entries exist is set in Settings → Basic configuration. See Settings explained.
E2iPlayer calls the sites it supports hosts (or services). By default they are sorted into groups (Movies and series, Live, German, English, Music, …) and shown as icons. The layout depends on Settings → Skin → Hosts list type:
- Graphic services selector (icon grid, default)
- List view (list with icons)
- Simple list (text only, fastest; no reordering or group editing)
With Enable hosts groups switched off, you get one list of all hosts instead of groups.
Some groups worth knowing:
- Worldwide: hosts that work in every country and language, e.g. YouTube, Dailymotion, Twitch, Vimeo, TED, SHOUTcast, Mixcloud. They stay in their language/topic groups as well.
- IPTV Portals: your own IPTV accounts, Xtream IPTV and Stalker Portal (MAG).
- Torrent: the torrent hosts. Only shown while torrent playback is switched on, see Torrents with TorrServer.
The group icons carry the group's name. In the icon grid the tile size is Settings → Skin → Service icon size (135x135 by default on FHD/WQHD skins, 100x100 on HD).
Below the icons (or the list) an info line shows the selected host's name and the date of its last change, e.g. Host: youtube, Last Modified: 05.10.2026 (for the XXX host its version). Useful when you report a problem.
| Key | Function |
|---|---|
| OK | Open the group or host. A PIN-protected host asks for the PIN first (see Settings → Security). |
| EXIT | Back from a group to the group list. On the group list: close E2iPlayer. |
| MENU | Open the E2iPlayer settings. |
| RED | Enable reordering / Disable reordering (see below). |
| GREEN | Disable/Enable groups: choose which groups are shown. |
| YELLOW | Open the Download manager. |
| BLUE | More menu (see below). |
| INFO / EPG / HELP | Open the Info screen (About, System information, debug log). |
On images other than openATV, Egami and Pure2, the icon grid looks slightly different: only BLUE (More) and MENU are shown, and the tiles All and Configuration are at the end of the list. Everything else is in the BLUE menu.
Depending on where you are, it offers:
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Add host … to group | Adds the selected host to another group. |
| Enable / Disable reordering mode | Same as RED. |
| Sort by name | Sorts the current list alphabetically. |
| Search | Find a host by name in the current list. Several matches open a list. |
| Download manager | Opens the download manager. |
| Disable/Enable services | Switch hosts on or off (on the host list and in All). |
| Disable/Enable groups | Choose which groups are shown (on the group list). |
| Reset to defaults | Resets the order and hidden entries of this list to the default. Only shown when you changed something. |
| Hide "…" group | Hides the selected group. |
| Remove "…" item | Removes the selected host from this group (it stays available in All). |
| Settings | Same as MENU. |
| Info | Opens the Info screen (About, System information, debug log). |
- Change the order: RED (or BLUE → Enable reordering mode), select an entry, OK to pick it up (MOVE: …), move it with the arrow keys, OK to drop it. RED again to finish. The order is saved automatically.
- Hide a group: BLUE → Hide "…" group, or untick it with GREEN (Disable/Enable groups). To show it again, tick it with GREEN.
- Your own group: the group User defined is empty at first. Add hosts to it with BLUE → Add host … to group.
- All hosts: the group All always contains every enabled host.
- Switch a host off completely: BLUE → Disable/Enable services, or Settings → Service configuration → Services configuration.
- Undo everything in a list: BLUE → Reset to defaults.
Favorites and LocalMedia (files on your HDD/USB) are also shown as hosts.
A host shows lists of categories, videos, search entries and so on. The footer only shows keys that do something for the selected item.
| Key | Function |
|---|---|
| OK | Open the category / play the video. A locked folder asks for the PIN. |
| EXIT | One level back. While a list is loading: cancel loading. |
| RED | Close: back to the host/group selection. |
| GREEN / RECORD | Download the selected video (only for items that can be downloaded). See Download manager. |
| YELLOW | Refresh the current list. |
| BLUE / OPTION | More menu (see below). |
| MENU | Item actions: favourites, watched status, host-specific actions (see below). |
| INFO / EPG | Show details (description, cover, extra info) of the selected item. |
| PLAY | Autoplay: plays the list from the selected item on, one after another. A short countdown runs between items (Autoplay start delay). EXIT or STOP in the player, or EXIT during the countdown, stops it. See Playlists and selection. |
| CH+ | Back to the previous category. |
| CH− | Next page, if the list ends with a "next page" entry. |
| 1–9 | T9 letter jump: jumps to the next entry starting with that letter (2 = A B C, 3 = D E F, …). |
| 0 | Play with automatic player selection. |

| Help | Always | Short key overview. |
| Exit | Always | Close E2iPlayer. |
The list functions (autoplay, selection, shuffle/reverse, batch download) are explained on Playlists and selection.
| Option | What it does |

| Remove from favorites (…) | Shown when the item is already a favourite: removes it from all groups. |

| Host-specific actions | Some hosts add their own entries, e.g. in favourites groups with YouTube channels: YouTube channels: sort by newest upload / original order. |
Hosts with a search function show these entries:
- Search: opens the keyboard. The last search is already filled in (Remember last search entry). Suggestions appear while typing, if enabled.
- Search history: your previous searches. OK searches again.
- Edit search history: rename, sort and delete entries.
- Delete search history: deletes all entries of this host.
In the search history list, the number keys always jump to the entry starting with that letter.

| MENU | Options: Add new entry, Sort A-Z, Sort Z-A, Reset to saved order, Enable reordering, Fix/Unfix jump target |
| INFO | Help |
| 1–9 | T9 letter jump |
There is no search across all hosts on the TV. The web interface has one (Search in all active hosts).
Many videos are available from several hosters (mirrors):
- With one link, playback starts right away.
- With several links, the Select link list opens. Choose one.
- If a link fails, you get "No valid links available." and the list opens again. The failed link is shown in red, so you can pick another one.
- A link you already chose while the host is open gets a tick and grey text. The marks are forgotten when you leave the host.
In a host: MENU (or BLUE) → Add item to favorites → choose a group, or Add new group of favorites (with name and description).
Open the host Favorites on the start screen. Your groups are listed there, and in each group the saved items.
A group with more than one YouTube channel also shows Newest videos (all YouTube channels): the latest uploads of these channels, newest first (switch it off in the Favorites host settings: Show "Newest videos" of all YouTube channels in a group). INFO on one of these videos shows its full description from YouTube. The age of the video is only in the description, not in the title, so it doesn't end up in the file name of a download.
In a host list or inside a favourites group: BLUE → Select, mark the rows with OK, then BLUE → Add marked items to favourites (n) or Remove marked items from favourites (n). See Playlists and selection.
The XXX host keeps its own list of favourite sites: MENU on a site in its main menu → Add item to favorites / Remove from favorites. Favourite sites get the favourite star at the end of the row, and the folder +++ Favorites +++ (n) at the top of the XXX main menu lists them, grouped like the main menu, with a search over these sites only. The list is stored in the config folder (hostxxx/xxxfavorites.txt).
Open it with BLUE → Edit favorites.
Group view:
| Key | Function |
|---|---|
| OK | Open the group |
| RED | Remove group |
| GREEN | Add new group |
| YELLOW | Enable/disable reordering (UP/DOWN moves, LEFT/RIGHT moves a page, OK ends) |
| BLUE | Edit name and description |
| MENU | Sort A-Z / Z-A |
| 1–9 | T9 letter jump |
| EXIT | Close (asks "Save changes?" if something changed) |
Inside a group: RED remove item, GREEN copy the item to another group, BLUE rename, EXIT back to the groups.
Some hosts use your own link lists:
- URL list: Videos, Live streams, User files
- XXX
- YouTube: channels you saved with Add to User Links
Open it with BLUE → Edit User Links.
| Key | Function |
|---|---|
| OK | Edit the line |
| RED | Delete the line |
| GREEN | Enable/disable reordering (UP/DOWN moves the row, OK saves, EXIT cancels) |
| YELLOW | Move the link to another group (or a new group) |
| BLUE | Sort A-Z / Z-A |
| EXIT | Close |
Items in the lists can be coloured and marked:
| Marking | Meaning | Default colour |
|---|---|---|
| Title grey + badge on the icon | Watched | grey |
| Title yellow + badge on the icon | Started, not finished | yellow |
| Title green + download symbol at the end of the row | Downloaded (file still exists) | green |
| Download symbol (in progress) at the end of the row | In the download queue / downloading | — |
| Title cyan + star at the end of the row | In your favourites | cyan |
| Tick on the item icon | Marked in the selection mode | — |
- Started is set automatically when playback starts.
- Watched is set automatically when you stop after more than 95 % of the video (with the external players).
- Seasons and series are marked from the state of their episodes.
- Set or remove it manually with MENU → Set watched / Unset watched.
- A recording of a live stream (GREEN on a live row) gets no downloaded marker; the next broadcast is a new one.
Colours and switches are in Settings → Service configuration (Allow watched flag to be set, Mark downloaded items, Mark favourite items). Watched status and favourites can be deleted in Settings → Storage → Detail/expert mode.
Start screen INFO (or BLUE → Info), or INFO in the settings.
| Key | Function |

| UP / DOWN | Scroll |
| GREEN | Save the page to /tmp (for bug reports) |
| YELLOW | Log page: auto refresh on/off |
