Configuring Grub2 UEFI install of RHEL 9.2 using Foreman/Satellite

Note: This is an unsupported configuration and is not validated by Red Hat. The purpose of this effort is share my experience as I experiment in my own lab. None of this is recommended for production.

Work in Progress...

theforeman.org and Red Hat do not ship the required shimaa64.efi and grubaa64.efi files with the deployment server software to perform aarch64 Grub2 UEFI provisioning. Configuring this is relatively trivial.

All of the procedures for provisioning with Satellite are the same as with x86_64.

Configure Provisioning

Configure your Foreman or Satellite instance as you normally would for Grub2 UEFI provisioning.

Deploy the shim and grub efi files

The easiest way to get the files for this deployment scenario is to copy them from a build you created with the manual method. :-) copy them to /var/lib/tftpboot/grub2 set permission and ownership

sudo chmod 0644 shimaa64.efi sudo chmod 0644 grubaa64.efi sudo chown foreman-proxy shimaa64.efi sudo chown foreman-proxy shimaa64.efi

Create the provision config

You need a partition table that points to mmcblk1 and fits your micro usb Create a content view and include the kickstart images. You need to use RHEL 9.2 or earlier kickstart images. Create an activation key that turns on the repos that you need. Create a hostgroup to make your life easier.

Build your system.
