Creating and installing a RHEL 9 for Edge iso image on RPi4

This is a fairly involved process. I will try to be concise in the description and I will be generating some ansible code to help out. Much of this process can be done manually the first time using Image Builder. The challenge here is that we are trying to build an arm64/aarch64 edge image and we need an aarch64 RHEL 9 system to do it... The initial manual machine becomes our image builder host!

  1. Install all the components needed to build your images and run containers.
  2. Create your blueprint for the image you want to deliver to the Pi4.
  3. Create a tar image for a containerized version of your build.
  4. Open the required firewall ports
  5. Run the container - this will launch an nginx instance that will allow us to create an iso
  6. Create a blank blueprint.
  7. Build a minimal image using this blueprint and point to your container nginx instance for the source image. This will pull the OSTree image that you built.
  8. When the ISO build is finished, copy this to the thumb drive.
  9. Prepare your Pi4 as you did in the manual steps. e.g. update the bootloader and create a UEFI firmware disk.
  10. Boot your next Pi4 from the ISO and it will auto install your OSTree image.
