Instance settings configure the whole server. This page explains how they relate to project settings, how the Settings menu is organized, and where to find each group of sections.

Instance settings and project settings

Radd has two levels of settings: instance and project. An instance value is the default for the whole server. A project can override some instance values in its own settings — for example, the working week. Other values have no project override and apply everywhere without exception — for example, how many hours a 1d duration means, so a duration reads the same on every timesheet and cycle handle.

The Settings menu

Open Settings from the avatar menu. The menu groups its sections into four bands:

  • Account — your own profile and API tokens. Every signed-in person sees this group.
  • Issues — how work items are configured: fields, link types, labels, cycles, time logging, automations, canned responses, and the Forgejo connection.
  • People — accounts and access: users, service accounts, teams, and roles.
  • Server — server and deploy configuration: AI, storage, email, directory sync, sign-in, backups, monitoring, and more.

A group shows only when you can see at least one section inside it. If you hold no permission atom that unlocks anything in People, the People heading does not appear at all.

Most sections in People and Server need administrator rights. A few Issues sections — Fields and Labels among them — open with a narrower permission atom instead, which an administrator can grant to someone who is not an administrator.
