Texture browsers and names

Choosing a texture

Open a texture browser from Visuals → Texture Browsers. Each selectable entry represents content changed by the supported Matcha resource assets. Select Matcha or Vanilla for that entry, compare the preview, then press Save Choices. Use the main Save Changes button to apply the staged choices.

The available entries depend on the selected Matcha profile. A texture missing from an older upstream release is not invented by the Companion.

Item and Equipment Textures

The browser contains Armour, Tools & Weapons, and Items tabs. Armour selections cover the inventory appearance and the equipment rendered on players or mobs, including the corresponding baby and leggings variants where supplied by Matcha. Changing a texture does not change the item's damage, armour value, enchantments, recipe or identity.

Block and World Textures

The browser groups choices into Nature, Building, Functional, and World. Non-living entities and world objects belong here, including applicable boats, minecarts, projectiles, beds and chests. Living creature textures belong in the Mob browser.

Mob Textures

Choose Matcha or Vanilla for each living mob family that Matcha actually changes. This browser avoids unrelated item/world entries and does not include exclusive-reference filters that are irrelevant to its contents.

Browser controls

Control Behaviour
Search Finds relevant entries by their displayed names
Category tabs Restricts the displayed choices to that category
Select All Selects Matcha for selectable entries in the active category
Clear All Selects Vanilla for selectable entries in the active category
Matcha Exclusive Shows or hides reference entries whose assets are required for custom Matcha content
Vanilla Exclusive Shows or hides reference entries that have no Matcha replacement
Save Choices Stages changes and returns to Visuals
Cancel / Escape Discards that browser's unsaved edits

Exclusive entries are references, not switches that remove required assets. Matcha-exclusive entries retain their custom-content artwork. Vanilla-exclusive entries use the active normal resource-pack appearance. The exclusive filters do not determine which items appear in Creative or JEI; use Catalogue settings for those listings.

Customise Names and Terminology

These settings affect optional ordinary names independently of textures:

Group ON OFF
Blocks & World Matcha's ordinary block/world terminology, such as its Limestone naming Normal Minecraft terminology
Items Matcha's optional ordinary item names Normal Minecraft item names
Mobs Matcha's names for affected ordinary mobs Normal Minecraft mob names
Container & Screen Labels Matcha's affected inventory/workstation headings Normal Minecraft headings

Changing a name does not rename the actual registry item or alter gameplay. Custom Matcha names, required instructions, datapack status messages and glyphs are not supposed to disappear when optional terminology is off. Upstream translations are provided where supplied; Minecraft's normal English fallback applies to missing translations.
