Is the audience of the guideline correctly specified?

It seems to me that system architects / hardware designers should also be included as the target audience.

Are the keywords well selected?

I would add such keywords as "Hardware modification" / "Hardware customization"

Are parts of the guideline too generic or too specific?

The guideline sounds reasonable for me.

Yes.

Other comments

  1. Guideline advice: is ok.

  2. Insights that led to the guideline: is ok.

  3. Recommended implementation method of the guideline along with a solid motivation for the recommendation: is ok

  4. Instantiation of the recommended implementation method in the reference platform: is good. I would suggest to make a glossary or an abbreviation list in the final document in order to make it easier for the reader.

  5. Evaluation of the guideline in reference applications: Still TBD. Maybe a coarse estimation of the efforts in term of approximate cost reduction (in percent)?

  6. References: The idea of the guideline is straightforward and hence clear without references. However, one could add references to the section "Instantiation of the recommended implementation method in trhe reference platform".
