Reading the OG-1200

Every controller has a monitor. Right-click the controller, Off-Grid › System monitor, to see what the rig is doing right now.

The face

  1. Lamps: what the machine is doing at a glance.
  2. Screen: live readings for the page you picked.
  3. Page keys: STATUS, LOADS, BATT, DAY.
  4. Main isolator: switches the controller on and off.
  5. Breaker trip: only lights on controllers tripped before 2.10.0.

The lamps

Lamp Means
BOOT Blinks while the controller starts up.
SOLAR The panels are producing.
CHARGE Spare power is going into the batteries.
LOAD The house has power and is using it.
EQUAL An equalisation charge is running.
FAULT Blinks with an old breaker trip. Reset it once.

The pages

  • STATUS: what the panels make, what the house uses, battery charge, and where the power flows.
  • LOADS: every appliance in reach. [#] is drawing now, [ ] is plugged in but off. Fridges always run.
  • BATT: state of charge, the damage floor, and each battery's condition.
  • DAY: what the panels actually delivered today, hour by hour since midnight.

What the screen says

Screen Means
GENERATING The panels cover the house, and any spare charges the batteries.
ON BATTERY The house runs from the batteries: night, or not enough sun.
STARTING UP The controller is booting. Power follows in a few minutes.
LOW BATT, LOAD SHED BACK AT N% The batteries reached their floor, so the house is cut off to protect them. Power comes back by itself at N%.
