Beam allows you to send an entire KOReader backup wirelessly from one device to another using a short, friendly 6-character code.
No USB cables, no computer, and no complex file transfers needed!
- Setting Up a New E-Reader: Got a new Kobo, Kindle, or Android reader? Transfer your complete reading setup, favorite fonts, and plugins in seconds.
- Sharing Configurations: Share your favorite KOReader layout and style tweaks with a friend or family member.
- No Cables Required: Everything happens over standard WiFi with no cloud accounts or logins needed.
- Make sure your e-reader is connected to WiFi.
- Open KOReader → Tools → Device Backup & Restore.
- Tap Beam to Device.
- Select the backup file you want to share.
- Your device will upload the backup to the secure relay and display a 6-character code (for example:
A8K2M9):
┌──────────────────────────────────────┐
│ Beam to Device │
│ │
│ Ready to transfer! On your other │
│ e-reader, enter this code: │
│ │
│ [ A 8 K 2 M 9 ] │
│ │
│ This code expires in 15 minutes. │
└──────────────────────────────────────┘
- On your receiving e-reader, make sure you are connected to WiFi.
- Open KOReader → Tools → Device Backup & Restore.
- Tap Receive via Beam Code.
- Type the 6-character code (e.g.,
A8K2M9):- The code entry is case-insensitive, so typing uppercase or lowercase works identically.
- Spaces or hyphens are ignored automatically.
- Tap Download.
- Once downloaded, KOReader opens the archive summary so you can review what's inside and tap Restore Now!
- Temporary Codes: Beam transfer codes automatically expire after 15 minutes.
- No Personal Accounts: You don't need an account, password, or email address.
- Secure Transfer: All uploads and downloads travel over encrypted HTTPS connections.
