Troubleshooting

Start with these two. They answer most questions:

Nothing appears on screen. Check systemctl --user status homecanvas. It starts with the desktop, so the desktop has to be up first. On Raspberry Pi OS it's started from ~/.config/labwc/autostart. Running the installer again puts that back if it's missing.

It worked, then stopped after a reboot. Usually something bound to graphical-session.target, which the Pi's labwc desktop never starts. Start it from labwc's autostart instead.

homecanvas.local doesn't open. On the Pi, hostname should say homecanvas and systemctl status avahi-daemon should be running. Running the installer again sets both. Windows and macOS find .local names by themselves. A Linux desktop needs nss-mdns. Some Android phones can't find .local names at all: use the IP address shown on the panel.

The editor is at :8090, not the plain address. Settings → Display → Dashboard says why under the address. Usually the port-80 setup hasn't been run yet: bash ~/homecanvas/scripts/setup-port-80.sh.

Touch doesn't work, or lands in the wrong place. Check the <touch> line in ~/.config/labwc/rc.xml. Its deviceName and mapToOutput must match your panel, and it needs mouseEmulation="no". Reload with killall -HUP labwc.

No sound from timers or read-aloud. Check Settings → Volumes: Do Not Disturb mutes everything, and each sound has its own volume. Read-aloud also needs the piper voice installed: INSTALL.md → Reading notes aloud.

The TV remote says its certificate is missing. The TV's key isn't in the repository. See INSTALL.md → TV Remote.
