Installation

Use the installation guide for current commands and platform requirements. Download installers and matching VSIX files from the latest tested release.

Install the official OpenAI Codex extension before installing the Multi Codex extension. Choose the VSIX matching your OS and architecture. Desktop and extension versions have separate version numbers; release notes identify the matching pair.

Updates preserve saved accounts and profile data. Close Multi Codex before replacing its app package. Keep the desktop app and extension current when sharing accounts so both understand the same locking protocol.

Mac builds currently require macOS 26 and the desktop app targets Apple Silicon. Unsigned Mac builds require first-open approval through System Settings → Privacy & Security. See the website for the exact installation process.
