VS Code extension

Full extension guide

Use the matching v0.2.0 pre-release VSIX from v1.4.0. All four platform packages passed real VS Code tests for live attachment and isolated startup, identity switching, chat continuation, activity guards, recovery and usage refresh. Marketplace upload is pending the owner’s manual action. Finish active work and reopen the affected Code window after installing to load the new connection fixes.

Open Multi Codex in the activity bar. Saved desktop accounts appear automatically from the same local store. Click an account to switch the existing Codex panel's backend identity. Switching does not intentionally reload VS Code or replace the running conversation.

The toolbar's Check All Accounts’ Usage refreshes every saved account without switching the active account. Results show remaining usage and reset times; one failing account does not stop the others. An account's usage action refreshes only that account.

Switching is refused during known active work, pending approvals, uncertain queue state, or unverified authentication. The integration uses experimental backend interfaces and private host compatibility hooks. Later official-extension changes may require a Multi Codex update.

Account switching preserves the conversation currently open in this window. It does not isolate that conversation's existing content between identities. Other windows retain their own accounts.

Local VS Code is the initial scope. Remote SSH, containers, WSL, and vscode.dev require separate integration work. Consult current platform support before installation.
