Addons and Toppings

Addons and Toppings are two independent catalogs of extra-charge modifiers a customer can add to an order — think "extra cheese" or "add bacon." They work identically to each other and to Departments and Products: each entry has a name, description, department, price, and cost.

Managing Toppings / Addons

From the Toppings or Addons tab:

  1. Click Add Item.
  2. Enter a Name, Description, Department, Price, and optional Cost.
  3. Click Add Item to save.

Items can be filtered by department and are paginated like the Products list. Deleting one hides it rather than erasing history tied to past sales.

How topping/addon pricing works

Both toppings and addons can be added to any product — there's no per-product setup required to make them available. Normally, adding one charges its own price (from the Toppings/Addons catalog) on top of the product's price.

The Enable Toppings checkbox and Toppings Price on a product (see Departments and Products) change that, but only for toppings: if a product has Enable Toppings checked, adding any topping to that product charges the product's flat Toppings Price instead of that topping's own catalog price. Addons aren't affected by this setting — an addon always charges its own price, regardless of a product's Enable Toppings setting.

Demo account limits

Like Products, demo accounts are capped at 10 active toppings.
