Setup and Getting Started

The Setup tab (Setup in the top menu) is where you activate your account and configure store-wide settings. It's also the page you're locked to whenever your account isn't active — you can't reach any other tab (Products, History, etc.) until billing is sorted out.

Trial and subscription

New accounts start in demo mode with a 7-day free trial. Setup shows you how many days are left. Once the trial ends (or for a paid account whose subscription has lapsed), the account is locked until you subscribe.

Subscribing takes a card through Square:

  1. Go to Setup.
  2. Enter your card details in the card form and click Subscribe.
  3. Your card is billed monthly at the price shown on the page — billed until you cancel.

Your card details go straight to Square and are never seen or stored on our own servers.

Once subscribed, Setup shows your subscription status and gives you two options:

  • Update Card — swap the card on file without creating a new subscription.
  • Cancel Subscription — stops future billing. You keep access through the end of the period you already paid for. Cancelling doesn't take effect immediately, so if you change your mind before the period ends, Setup will instead offer a Keep My Subscription button to undo the scheduled cancellation.

Store settings

Once your account is active, Setup shows a Store Settings form:

Field Notes
Store Name, Address, Phone, Email, Website Shown on receipts and used for store identification
Currency Symbol Prefixed to prices on receipts
Store Timezone Used so order times on receipts and in History and Reports show correctly, including during daylight saving

Tax settings

Up to three named taxes (Tax 1/2/3), each with its own name and percentage. A tax only applies to a department if that department has the matching tax checkbox turned on — see Departments and Products.

Receipt settings

  • Email Receipt Subject — subject line used when a receipt is emailed to a customer
  • Receipt Header / Receipt Footer — free-text lines printed at the top/bottom of receipts

Click Save Settings to apply any changes.

Getting the app on a device

Food POS App runs on Android and is distributed through the Google Play Store and Amazon Appstore (see the download buttons on the main site). Once installed, use the Devices page to create a login key and connect that device to your account.
