Compatibility and Limitations

Compatibility

  • Minecraft Bedrock 26.40+
  • Stable Script APIs only (@minecraft/server 2.8.0 and @minecraft/server-ui 2.1.0)
  • Standard graphics and Vibrant Visuals (pbr on the Resource Pack)
  • Overworld, Nether, and End
  • Single-player, multiplayer, Realms, and supported Bedrock servers
  • No experiments, no extra dependencies, no Cheats required

The camp uses native wool, bed, chest, oak fence, lantern, and campfire blocks. Lighting follows the active Minecraft renderer.

Optional Comforting Campfires compatibility

Andy’s Comforting Campfires 0.1.10 or newer is optional. The hearth crafting recipes depend on an item tag that Comforting Campfires exports from 0.1.10 onward. When it is active alongside the normal Portable Campsite Behavior and Resource Packs and the optional Comforting Campfires Bridge pack, a Comforting Campfire or Hearthfire can be used directly in the campsite recipe. The bridge pack holds only those recipes and declares a manifest dependency on Comforting Campfires, so Minecraft will not activate it without that add-on installed and no hearth recipe is ever parsed on worlds that do not have it. Portable Campsite registers the deployed temporary vanilla campfire with Comforting Campfires after placement and unregisters it before camp cleanup. If Comforting Campfires is absent or unavailable, an ordinary campsite still deploys and packs up normally, but it has no Comfort-healing, runes, status menu, or Comfort-food conversion.

Standalone vs Explorers Backpack

Andy's Portable Campsite is the standalone edition of the campsite developed for Andy's Explorers Backpack. The backpack version remains available and unchanged.

  • The backpack is not required.
  • The two editions are separate products with separate storage.
  • Do not use both in the same world if you want only one active camp.

Pack-up rules also differ. The standalone edition archives chest contents and allows pack-up with items still in the chest. Do not assume backpack camping rules apply here.

Known limitations

  • Only one campsite may be actively deployed per player.
  • Kits are owner-stamped. You cannot deploy another player's kit.
  • Temporary camp blocks cannot be harvested for free wool, beds, lanterns, fences, chests, or campfires.
  • Non-owners cannot use the chest or protected camp blocks. Comfort hearth camps leave normal campfire cooking and the companion's status menu available.
  • Facing is snapped to 90-degree steps. Look the way you want the entrance before using the kit.
  • There is no artificial “flat area” scan. Give the tent room, or deployment can fail and roll back.
  • If a camp block is replaced with a different non-air block, pack-up is refused until the tent is restored.
  • Owner identity is the world-local player id used by Bedrock scripts, not a separately stored Xbox gamertag.
  • /clone, structure blocks, pistons, and explosions can desync a deployed camp. Pack-up then asks you to restore obstructed blocks, or a missing campfire can be treated as no longer active.
  • Colored bed placement depends on the shipped bed head/foot structures in the Behavior Pack. If those fail to load, a default bed may remain.

Consoles

Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch generally cannot import a local .mcaddon. Import and activate the add-on on Windows or mobile, upload the prepared world to a Realm, and join that Realm from the console.
