3. Understanding Michi

What I can do?

It is up to you! Start by loading any online page or computer software. Imagine you're carrying a piano. Then you can link Michi to something exciting, like bananas, and the bananas will turn into the keys on your piano, replacing the buttons on your computer keyboard.

Or, let's assume you use a pencil and paper to create a joystick while looking for a Pacman game online. Then, by tapping them, you may play Pacman.

Everything you need is included in the kit: a USB cable, an alligator cable, and a Michi Board.

What is a Bootloader?

Bootstrap loader is shortened to "Bootloader" in the term. This concept is related to the expression "lift yourself up by your bootstraps". Without a software to operate, a computer is a pointless piece of technology. Therefore, how do you install the program on the computer?

A software known as a "Bootloader" is pre-installed on the majority of processor boards. A bootloader is a software that enables the loading of other applications through a more practical interface, such as a typical Usb connection.

Your microcontroller board's bootloader checks to see whether there is an upload request whenever you turn it on or reset it.

If there is, the new software will be uploaded and burned into Flash memory. If not, the most recent software you loaded will begin to operate.

Michi Bootloader mode.

Please follow these instructions to activate bootloader mode on the Michi.

  • Locate the J1 pins on the Michi. This is next to the USB connector.
  • Maintain the two pins connected with a cable.
  • Connect the Michi to the PC after that.
  • Now, a pop-up window or another choice for what you want to do with the device should show on your computer. If the second option comes, choose the option to open the storage.

Your Michi is now in bootloader mode.

This mode serves as a recovery mechanism in case your Michi is not working properly.

Once in this mode, insert this file in the pop-up window that appears, and your Michi should restart and begin functioning properly.
