Admin and Moderation

This page is for site staff — regular users won't see any of this.

Roles

• Admin — full access to the admin panel: user management (search, grant/revoke admin/moderator/subscriber status, impersonate a user for support/debugging, delete accounts) and the reports queue. Admins can also view, edit, and delete any recipe/cookbook/Meal Week/grocery list regardless of ownership, with a "Viewing as admin" banner shown so it's clear they're not the owner.
• Moderator — access to the Reports section of the admin panel only (no user management). Moderators can resolve reports and delete the reported recipe/comment/message, and can also timeout or ban the user who posted it.

Both roles are granted by an admin from the admin panel's Users section.

The reports queue

Reported recipes, comments, and messages show up in the admin panel with the reporter, the reason given, and who actually posted the reported content. From there, a moderator or admin can:

• Dismiss the report (no action), or
• Delete the offending recipe/comment/message (this also resolves the report automatically), or
• Timeout the user who posted it, for a chosen number of minutes.

Timeouts and bans

A timed-out user:

• Sees a persistent banner telling them they're suspended and until when.
• Can still sign in and browse normally — timeouts only block posting new content (creating/editing recipes, forking, rating, commenting, creating/renaming cookbooks, sending messages, marking a recipe as made). Deleting your own stuff is still allowed.
• Is automatically un-restricted the moment the timeout expires — no action needed from a moderator.

A very long timeout (years) is how a permanent ban is expressed — there's no separate "banned" flag, just a suspension end date far enough in the future.
