Community and Messaging
Follow another user from their profile page or from any of their recipes. There's no private/approval step — following is one-click and public.
The bell icon in the header shows unread notifications, with a badge count. You're notified when someone:
- Comments on one of your recipes
- Rates one of your recipes
- Forks one of your recipes
- Follows you
You can turn off any of these four notification types individually in Settings if you'd rather not hear about all of them.
Send another user a private message from their profile page. Messages have their own inbox and their own unread-count icon in the header, separate from your recipe-activity notifications (bell icon). You can:
- Restrict who can message you to only people you follow, in Settings.
- Report an abusive message for moderator review, the same way you'd report a recipe or comment.
Recipes, comments, and messages can each be reported via a Report button/link, with a short reason. Reports go to a moderation queue — see Admin and Moderation for what happens after that.
