Importing a Recipe

Instead of typing a recipe in by hand, LemmeCook can use Claude (Anthropic's AI) to read a recipe from somewhere else and fill in the form for you. From New recipe, pick one of the import options instead of "Write it myself":

• Photo — upload one or more photos (e.g. a handwritten recipe card, a page from a cookbook) and Claude transcribes it into title, ingredients, steps, tags, and nutrition info where available.
• PDF — upload a PDF and Claude extracts the recipe the same way.
• Paste text — paste text copied from anywhere (an email, a note, a website you don't have a clean URL for) and Claude structures it into the form.
• URL — paste a link to a recipe on the web. LemmeCook first tries to read the page's structured recipe data (the same format recipe sites use for Google/Pinterest rich results); the source link is kept and shown as an attribution on the recipe page.

In every case, you get an editable form afterward — nothing is saved until you review and confirm it, so you can fix anything the AI got wrong before saving.

You can also add a photo, PDF, or pasted text to an existing recipe while editing it (for example, to add a second page of a multi-page recipe card).

Who can import

AI import (photo/PDF/paste-text/URL) is a subscriber feature — see Subscription and Account Settings. Writing a recipe by hand is always free.
