Installation and nightlies

Hayai currently publishes development nightlies for testing. A new stable release has not been published from the J2K-based reset yet.

Requirements

• Android 8.0 or newer
• A backup of your current library and Hayai data before upgrading
• Permission to install apps from your browser or file manager when Android asks

Install a nightly

1. Open the Hayai nightly releases.
2. Download the APK from the newest successful nightly.
3. Open the APK and follow Android's installation prompt.
4. Launch Hayai and check your library, extensions, reader settings, and downloads.

Nightlies are development builds produced from master. Their application ID is separate from the future stable build, so the two can coexist. Nightlies may contain incomplete work or migrations that need more testing.

Before changing builds

Create a Hayai backup and keep it somewhere outside the app's storage. Do not treat the old tachiyomi.db file or downloaded chapter folders as a complete backup.

If installation fails, confirm that the downloaded file is an APK, allow installs from the app that opened it, and remove any incompatible build signed by a different publisher only after preserving its data.
