An unofficial save editor for Minecraft Dungeons II on PC, for the Xbox app / PC Game Pass version and the Steam version. It changes your offline heroes: stats, gear, effects and enchantments, talismans, and whole kits from top builds. It's laid out like the game's own inventory screen, and it makes a backup every time it saves.

Get it

Download MCD2SaveEditor.zip from the latest release. There's nothing to install.

  1. Unzip it and open the MCD2SaveEditor folder.
  2. Close the game.
  3. Open MCD2SaveEditor.exe. Leave it in its folder.
  4. Your hero opens. Make your changes and press Save to game.

Windows may say "Windows protected your PC", because the .exe isn't code-signed: click More info → Run anyway. Safety and privacy says why antivirus tools sometimes flag it, how to check your download, and what the editor goes online for.

On Linux (Steam through Proton, Flatpak and Snap Steam included) and on a Mac, the editor runs from its source: see Linux and Mac. On Windows you can do that too: see Running from source.

What you can do

Stats Emeralds, Echo Shards, level, XP, enchantment points, and the Merchant, Blacksmith and Enchantsmith levels
Items Change rarity, power and count, equip, copy, delete, or turn an item into another one
Add items Any weapon, armor piece, artifact or talisman in the game, and the Uniques, which come with the effect of their own
Effects and enchantments Change effects… on an item's card: pick its effects and an enchantment yourself, or let Best for pick for damage, survival, mobility, loot, artifacts and souls, or companions. A piece can be made Soulstorm Enhanced there too
Talismans See a talisman's level and raise it with Level up, saved exactly as the game saves a level-up
Enchantment books The Books tab shows the books your hero carries. Add every book gives it all 32 of the game's books, and the Enchantsmith then offers their enchantments
Presets Goals (Most money, Most XP, Best loot and more), the most powerful gear, and six complete kits
World map Menu → World → World map… draws the ground your hero has explored, the same way round as the game's own map, with every door it has found. Beside it: the story quests, every quest and its steps, minecart stations, and what you may have missed. Nothing is changed by looking
Story progress Menu → World → Story progress… lists every quest with its steps and how far your hero has got. Finish a quest, start one over, add one your hero hasn't met, pick the quest the game tracks, and set the minecart station your hero starts at
Play recorder Menu → World → Play recorder… writes down what the game saves while you play: items, stats, quest steps, minecart stations, doors, chests you open and the ground you explored. What it records puts more on the world map, and Share this recording… sends what it found, if you choose to. It only reads your saves
Soul Storms Menu → World → Soul Storms… shows the Soul Storm that's on now and when each area gets its next one, on your PC's clock, from the game's own timetable
Launch game A button next to Save to game starts Minecraft Dungeons II for you
Suggest something Menu → Share and suggest → Suggest something… is a place to leave an idea for the editor, or to say what it gets wrong. It opens a GitHub issue with what you wrote, for you to send, or copies it
Two looks Menu → Look switches between Original, the look it opens in, and Liquid Glass, with rounded glass panels and buttons. The editor remembers your choice
Advanced mode Every value in the save, for people who want it

Good to know

  • Online heroes can't be changed. The game keeps them on its servers.
  • Close the game first, and let the Xbox app or Steam finish syncing before you save.
  • If you're asked which save to keep after an edit, keep this PC's: that's the one with your changes.
  • Something looks wrong in the game? Close it and use Menu → Restore a backup….
  • Stay close to your level. Very high power or level may be undone by the game.
  • The editor only writes what it has seen in a real save. That's why some enchantments and tiers aren't offered yet. Menu → Share and suggest → Share item IDs… makes a list from your saves that teaches it more, and it now tells of the game's world too: quests, doors and minecart stations the editor hasn't seen. See Teach the editor.

Everything it does is in Features, and what it can't do yet, and why, is in Known limits.
