Reactor Core

The Reactor Core is the central component of the Vibranium Nuclear Reactor multi-block structure. It processes Vibranium Dust to generate high internal energy, creates Hot Water via liquid cooling, *Depledted Vibranium as a residue, and boosts adjacent furnaces.

Multi-block Structure Requirement

2026-09-13_16 46 25

For the Reactor Core to operate safely, it must be enclosed at the center of a 3×3×3 multi-block structure:

  • Center (1x): Reactor Core.
  • Faces & Corners (26x): Must consist of valid components:
    • Reinforced Vibranium Glass: Outer shell casing / radiation insulator.
    • Reactor Hatch: For fuel injection and depleted ingot retrieval.
    • Fluid Tanks: Column-arranged tanks storing water and hot water OR Reactor Pump for cooling via an infinite water source and Reactor Outlet to expel hot water in a larger tank.

When the structure is valid, fluid tanks/ Pump and Outlet are marked as part of an active reactor.

Core Mechanics & Energy Generation

Fuel & Power Cycle

  • Fuel Source: Consumes Vibranium Dust (1 dust = 24,000 ticks / 20 minutes of operation).
  • Fuel Output: Upon consuming a dust, there is a 40% chance to eject a Depleted Vibranium Ingot into slot 1 of an adjacent Reactor Hatch.
  • Base Output: Generates 40 FE/tick up to a maximum internal buffer of 100,000 FE.
  • Auto-SCRAM Safety: If the internal energy buffer hits maximum capacity (100,000 FE), the nuclear reaction automatically pauses to prevent unnecessary fuel consumption and thermal buildup.

Thermal Dynamics & Liquid Cooling

  • Operational Range: 1,250°C to 1,500°C.
  • Heat Production: Rapidly heats up to 1,500°C, then stabilizes. Above 2,500°C without cooling, it enters an uncontrolled heating state (+1°C/tick).
  • Coolant System: Consumes water from connected fluid tanks to control core temperature. Absorbed heat converts water into Hot Water transferred to output tanks.
  • Ambient Heat Radiation: At operational temperatures (≥ 1,500°C), the core radiates a warming field up to 3 blocks that protects nearby players from ambient cold/hypothermia.

Furnace Overclocking & Smelting

The Reactor Core automatically scans a 5×5×5 volume around itself for adjacent vanilla furnaces (c:furnaces):

  • Thermal Fueling: When the core temperature exceeds 100°C, it feeds thermal power into nearby furnaces without consuming standard furnace fuel.
  • Accelerated Cooking: Increases furnace cooking speed proportionally to the core temperature (temperature / 200).
  • Vibranium Ingot Refining: At temperatures ≥ 1,200°C, cooking Vibranium Dust inside an overclocked furnace converts it directly into a Vibranium Ingot.

Overheating & Meltdown Phases

If left operating without coolant (water), the core temperature will rise past 2,500°C, triggering sequential containment failure phases:

Phase Temperature Effects & Behaviors
0. Alarm Phase 2,500°C – 3,999°C Meltdown alarm sound loops every 2s. Smoke particles emit. Radiates heat damage up to 6 blocks.
1. Structural Stress 4,000°C – 5,499°C Dense black smoke fills the air. Thunder creaks emit as containment stresses.
2. Containment Breach 5,500°C – 6,499°C Ambient blocks within 3×3×3 randomly liquefy into Lava. Structural damage escalates.
3. Point of No Return 6,500°C – 6,999°C Severe heat radiation (20-block range). Player combustion and heavy fire damage tick continuously.
4. Liquefaction & Blast ≥ 7,000°C Massive Explosion (Power 5.0). Core vanishes, turning the 3×3×3 center into Lava and applying Poison III to all players within 12 blocks.

Redstone & Energy Evacuation

Receiving a Redstone signal through adjacent structural components activates energy evacuation through a Forced Discharge: system. It discharges stored energy at a rate of 2,000 FE/tick.
