Day 3 - Notes & Details:
The 3rd day of the residency was the first day of full prototyping where our goal was to finish the circuit part of our project. After breakfast, we first looked at a TedX video of the founder of Arduino and understood the difference and importance of both: patenting, closed-sourcing and open-sourcing The session then progressed into a full-fledged discussion about various examples in today's world and analyzing them. Finally, we started with out project work, first by testing our all our components from the Arduino Mega 2560 to the single piezo test to the single RGB Led ring test. This marked the end of the first half of day 3.
After lunch, we looked at the different implications of our circuit in terms of how we connected them, how the code is functioning and how we were planning on creating our pads. We then realized that we can laser cut our pad components and hence we accordingly found exact 170mm x 170mm measurements and created appropriate .dxf files symbolizing all of our parts.
Our takeaways included: how trial-and-error is an important part of a maker's journey and we now have a clear plan of action for the following days so that we can get this project done by the end of the residency and have a working model to present to the parents and mentors.
