Troubleshooting

No notification when a game starts

Check these, in order:

  1. plugins.ini is in /data/GoldHEN/, not in /data/GoldHEN/plugins/.
  2. The name is all lowercase: plugins.ini. Not Plugins.ini, and not plugins.ini.txt.
  3. The line in plugins.ini matches the file: /data/GoldHEN/plugins/remote_pad.prx, under [default] (or under the game's title ID).
  4. Enable Plugins Loader is ticked in Settings → GoldHEN → Plugins Settings.
  5. The jailbreak loaded properly: restart the PS4, run the exploit again, and try once more.

Still nothing? Read the plugin's log (below).

The page doesn't open

  • A game must be running. The plugin runs inside the game, so the page is only there while a game is open.
  • Include the port: http://<ps4-ip>:4263.
  • The phone or computer must be on the same network as the PS4.
  • Use http://, not https://.

The page says "Waiting for the console"

The game was closed, or the PS4 left the network. The page reconnects by itself as soon as a game with the plugin runs again.

The game doesn't see my pad

  1. Pick the pad first. A player only joins once someone picks their pad.
  2. Some games only look for players when they start. Turn on Settings → Players → Guests join when the game starts, then restart the game.
  3. Some games need real PS4 users instead of guests: see Players and PS4 Users.
  4. "No free player slot": the game already has its maximum number of players. Disconnect a controller on the PS4, or turn off pads you don't use.
  5. The game says "Sign in" for your pad: update to RemotePad NG 1.0.1 or later. Some games made with Unity, like Tricky Towers, need it.

A game crashes

  • First, start the game without picking a pad. The game sees no change until someone does, so if it still crashes, look at other plugins first.

  • Don't connect new controllers to the PS4 while a game runs.

  • If one game doesn't get along with RemotePad NG, load the plugin only for the games you use it with: list them in plugins.ini instead of under [default].

    /data/GoldHEN/plugins/remote_pad.prx
  • Please report the game with its title ID and the log.

Input lags

  • Connect the PS4 with Ethernet, or use 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
  • Keep the phone close to the router.
  • The page sends every change right away. On a good home network, expect a few tens of milliseconds.

The phone's screen turns off or the connection drops

Turn on Keep the screen on in the PS button menu; it's on by default. If the page goes to the background, your pad stops after a few seconds and comes back when you return.

Controllers on my phone or computer don't show up

  • Press a button on the controller after connecting it.
  • Keep the browser window in front.
  • Some browsers only allow controllers on secure pages: try Chrome or Edge. See Playing → Controllers.

"Open the page at the console's IP address to change settings"

For your safety, settings can only be changed from the console's own page opened by its IP address, like http://192.168.1.20:4263. A page saved as a file, or opened through a domain name, can play but can't change settings.

Reading the plugin's log

GoldHEN can send its log over the network:

  1. Turn on the klog server in Settings → GoldHEN → server settings.
  2. On a computer, run nc <ps4-ip> 3232. On Windows, use ncat or PuTTY in "Raw" mode on port 3232.
  3. Start the game.

The plugin's lines start with [remote_pad]. The log can contain your IP address and PS4 user IDs: remove them before sharing it if you prefer.
