capgen-ng updates from Dom (now capgen-v1!)
- PR is open (#762)
- Won’t be merged until all the models are ready
- feature/capgen-v1 is long-lived branch as we go
- Can make mods via PR (need to do so if mods to capgen-v0 are made)
- Need to wait for CAM-SIMA to complete its deliverables this fiscal year
- Dustin - do we go UFS first, or SCM first?
- UFS has heavy testing
- Dustin will open draft PRs (and issues) for UFS soon
- Dom noted that there is a merge conflict in the TEMPO submodule (for SCM)
- Should go to UFS first if it’s got the latest TEMPO mods
- Need to discuss with larger UFS CCPP group to ensure we’re not moving too fast
- Tests are passing b4b and only adds functionality, so hopefully it’s ok
- Dom will de-verbosify the files in the interim
- Should the feature/capgen-v1 branch be static, or evolve as Dom does his cleanup?
- General consensus that it would be annoying to have the PR changing while you’re reviewing
- Proposed compromise: static while UFS does its review/testing; then Dom opens PR with accumulated clean-up changes
- General agreement
- NEPTUNE now using capgen-v1
- Documentation
- General plan is to use what we have, and modify with new capgen features (using Dom’s generated documentation as a reference)
- TBD on process (who does what?)
- Hope to avoid feature creep going forward! Dom - we should be conservative about what features we add and how magical capgen becomes
