Adding and Editing Clothing Items

Adding Clothes

The main way of quickly adding clothes would be through Applying Outfits, but you can easily manually add clothing items one by one. Beneath the 'Skin Set' option, there is a text box that you can select a clothing item from, and it will automatically place it onto the model. This text box is automatically populated with all the clothing items the rig has access to.

Tip

There are a LOT of clothing items, so it is recommended to search for the rough term of the item you are looking for; the clothing items have the same names as they do in game, so you can look up the specific item in Zomboid then input that here.

Editing Clothes

There are three main categories of clothing items that the rig has:

  • Body Clothing Textures
    • Drawn directly as a texture onto the model
  • Clothing Meshes
    • Skinned clothing meshes like jackets that deform alongside the rig
  • Props
    • Static clothing meshes that are attached to a bone on the rig, but do not deform

Reordering / Removing Body Textures

The main option you can edit at this moment relates to the ordering of the body clothing textures; as in, which textures are drawn on top of each other.

TextureReordering RemovingTextures

You can remove individual body textures by selecting them, then pressing the 'minus' symbol to the right of the list.

Hiding / Removing Clothes and Prop Meshes

You can hide individual clothing and prop meshes from either the viewport or the render, just as you could in the normal Blender outliner.

Removing entries from both lists is the same as the body clothing textures.

Warning

Note that hiding the props or the clothing meshes will NOT trigger an update on the masking or hair substitution systems, meaning they can make the character look invisible if they were intended to cover that part of the body up.
