Creating an animation for a mod
Set the framerate of the Blender project you are animating in to 30 FPS (which is what the game uses). This option is found in the 'Output' tab in the Properties Editor, in the 'Format' subpanel.
If your animations are animated at framerates lower or higher than 30 FPS, they will player slower or faster in game than they do in Blender.
In the Dope Sheet editor, select the Action Editor mode. Then, click the '+ New' button to create our action, and name it.
Tip
It is highly recommended to stick to the vanilla naming scheme for your animation named. For example, all animations for the player begin with 'Bob_', and all animations that the zombies use begin with 'Zombie_'. So, if you want to create an attack with a yoyo or something, name it 'Bob_AttackYoyo' or something similar.
Now, when you start creating keyframes on the rig, they will be stored in this action.
After you have created your animation, see Exporting Animations for how to export the animations, and see the rest of this modding wiki page on how to implement them into your mod.
