Solid colour, local-image upload, static image URL and Picsum daily are available. A new profile starts pale (#f3f7fa); existing wallpaper choices remain.

Picsum daily

Loads an ordinary online image from picsum.photos using a seed based on your local calendar date. Opening or reloading on a new day requests that day's selection; there is no background timer. Change picture requests a new seed, but different seeds may return the same photo.

The last successfully loaded seed and date are saved. Same-day reload keeps the selection, including a manual choice, and backups carry it. A failed candidate is not saved: the current background stays, an amber message offers Try again, and retry can load once connectivity returns. There is no offline image copy; a fresh reload without network shows the solid colour.

The owner passed loading, same-day reload, manual change/persistence, offline failure/retry and restoration of a local image at fd8b37e in Chrome on macOS. New-day rollover is covered by fixed-clock CI only.

Other modes

Each mode retains its own value. Switching back can restore a saved local image without another upload. Save applies; Close/Escape discards staged changes.

Unsplash keyword is legacy functionality whose endpoint is not guaranteed. Bing daily remains disabled: no real Bing image has loaded in testing because the archive request is CORS-blocked. No proxy/backend is included. Existing saved Bing mode remains; only a validated market code such as en-US is sent.

Images preload before replacement. Failure retains the displayed background in the current page, without a persistent fallback cache. Failed selections retry on Save/reload, not unrelated redraws. Storage-full errors leave settings unchanged. Backups can contain inactive modes' embedded images; keep them private.
