5.3 Communication System

Three distinct communication links exist within the system:

  1. SBC ↔ MCU: Wired UART serial. MCU streams sensor data (IMU, encoders) to SBC; SBC sends navigation commands/mode instructions to MCU.
  2. SBC ↔ Cloud/Dashboard: WiFi. Handles live video streaming, 3D map uploads, session/telemetry data.
  3. Client ↔ Cloud: Web/mobile app talks to backend APIs for live control, viewing sessions, and report generation.

Protocols & Payload Formats

Document message schemas, polling/streaming rates, and any protocol buffers / JSON schemas used.

Latency & Reliability Considerations

Notes on teleoperation latency budget, reconnection/failover behavior.
