Typed derived significators across primary-direction methods

Admission date: 2026-10-23. Engine-only, staged for the combined release.

Computational object

Fortune, catalogue lots and an existing selected Ptolemy predominator now compose with all eight registered methods through the existing typed target system. The 28 presets retain typed configuration, including their specialized relations and motions. This is coordinate composition with the current projection laws, including shared narrow laws; it is not an assertion that all eight methods have independent historical lineages or that every school historically directed every catalogue lot.

No formula, projection law, native implementation, time key, target vessel, public signature, default, root/facade export or REST schema changes. Only policy admission is widened for explicitly configured typed targets.

Method matrix

Method Existing spaces Typed significators Existing polar-domain contract
Placidus mundane in mundo admitted defined rise/set semi-arcs required
Ptolemy semi-arc in mundo / in zodiaco admitted defined rise/set semi-arcs required
Placidian classic semi-arc in mundo admitted defined rise/set semi-arcs required
Meridian in mundo / in zodiaco admitted equatorial coordinates remain usable without rise/set semi-arcs
Morinus in mundo / in zodiaco admitted existing under-pole spherical-domain checks
Regiomontanus in mundo / in zodiaco admitted existing under-pole spherical-domain checks
Campanus in mundo / in zodiaco admitted existing shared narrow under-pole law and domain checks
Topocentric in mundo / in zodiaco admitted defined rise/set semi-arcs required

Fortune and lots retain assigned zero ecliptic latitude. A selected planet retains its native latitude and canonical identity; selected Ascendant remains ASC, and a selected Lot of Fortune remains unreversed Ptolemaic Fortune. The office selector is still the existing Ptolemy determination. Changing the directional method neither reruns selection nor changes the source doctrine.

Preserved boundaries

  • Typed configuration remains opt-in. A name alone cannot supply coordinates; injected synthetic natal-body entries cannot replace typed construction.
  • Fortune and lots remain significators. They do not gain promissor, aspect- source, midpoint-source, reflection-source or parallel-source roles.
  • A native selected planet/angle retains its ordinary capabilities.
  • Catalogue recipes, explicit sect, external-reference context and dependency policies remain with their existing owners. Missing or stale source data continues to fail explicitly.
  • Placidus mundane and Placidian classic do not acquire zodiacal spaces.
  • Ordinary direct/traditional-converse, explicit neo-converse, and direct-only policies preserve their existing definitions. Meridian retains its existing significator-RA-minus-promissor-RA orientation.
  • Rapt presets retain their relation-specific direct or converse motion and matching ordinary bound chronology; no cross-motion fallback is introduced.
  • Signed primary motion remains restricted to the existing Topocentric zodiacal branch. Its exact target-policy check now includes the derived significator class only when a typed Fortune/lot identity is configured. Relation, latitude, perfection, zero-event and antipodal gates are retained.
  • Signed-primary-motion timeline bound chronology remains unadmitted. This existing restriction is independent of typed target construction.

Fixed-star composition

An explicitly configured typed derived significator may now receive an already admitted catalogue-backed fixed-star conjunction. The native planet/angle classes remain admitted; nodes and house cusps are not added to this branch. Removing the typed configuration while retaining the derived class does not grant a star-significator admission. Fixed-star opposition, wider aspects, epoch/frame reduction and catalogue provenance remain unchanged.

Verification

test_primary_directions_derived_methods.py exercises all 28 presets with Ptolemaic Fortune, sect-reversed Fortune, Spirit, Basis, and existing Sun, Moon, Ascendant and Fortune predominator results. Specialized presets use their actual mundane-aspect, mundane-parallel, rapt, reflected or declination-parallel promissors. Native selected targets match their ordinary searches exactly.

The tests also cover native/Python agreement for typed termini; independent equatorial right-ascension limits for all methods with their own orientations; direct-only and neo-converse policies; fixed-star conjunction gating; missing unrequested sources; polar-domain boundaries; mundane-only rejection; signed policy/timeline restrictions; both rapt motions; and all six time keys with filter-invariant bound partitions for every method.

test_primary_directions_lots.py runs every current catalogue lot by day and night through all eight ordinary mundane method presets: 8,192 construction comparisons and directional identities. This is owner-composition/regression evidence. Independent formula and geometry invariants remain separate from historical authority or universal-school validation. Existing geometry, native-parity, office, lots and transport suites remain required.

The primary-direction geometry owners and their existing method-specific source fixtures govern projection. Formula sources and source-binding limits remain in primary_directions_derived_points.md, primary_directions_catalogue_lots.md, and the lots source-verification record. DE441 supplies astronomical inputs and dynamic-key ephemerides, not historical-doctrine validation.
