Alpha Vantage is an API mainly aimed at the US market. You can use it for free but there are some restrictions:

1. You must have an API Key: see Alpha Vantage API Key
2. You must enter the key into the parameters see Parameters Page.
3. If you obtain a free API Key you will be restricted to 25 quotes a day. You can purchase a premium API key to obtain larger numbers of quotes.

Alpha Vantage is aimed at the US market, however, it does support a small number of foreign exchanges. These are:

• London Stock Exchange: LON
• Toronto: TRT
• Toronto Ventures: TRV
• Germany - XETRA: DEX
• Germany - Frankfurt: FRK
• Euronext - Paris: PAR
• Euronext - Amsterdam: AMS
• Euronext - Lisbon: LIS
• Euronext - Brussels: BRU
• China - Shanghai: SHH
• China - Shenzhen: SHZ
• India - BSE: BSE

Alpha Vantage does not return the currency of the stock. If you use an Exchange then Quote Loader will use the currency of the Exchange. If no Exchange is used Quote Loader will use the currency of the Security.

For users who wish to use Alpha Vantage for London securities in Sterling Pence there is a new Exchange called LONX which has a currency of GPX the pseudo currency for pence.
