Dubgefahren is a free VST3 instrument for Windows (and, experimentally, macOS) that puts 16 dub sirens under your fingers. Each pad is its own fully editable siren (classic square-LFO wails, lasers, risers, drops, UFO bleeps) or plays a sample, and all of them run through a shared dub effects chain: drive, a morphing filter, a tape delay that can self-oscillate with a phaser on the echoes, and a spring reverb.
It is built for live performance: trigger sounds from a 16-pad controller (MIDI notes 36–51 by default, adjustable), shape the one you just hit with a handful of performance controls, and ride the delay feedback into oblivion.
- 16 slots, one voice each, up to 16 sounds at once
- Per slot a sound source: dub siren (waveform, pitch, pitch LFO with 5 shapes incl. sample & hold, free or tempo-synced, pitch sweep), sample (WAV, AIFF, MP3, FLAC with start, loop, end, reverse, tune and a vintage S950-style time-stretch up to 800 %), or empty
- Per slot: envelope, volume, pan, FX send
- Trigger modes per slot: Gate, Latch, One-Shot
- Four choke groups with click-free 5 ms fades
- Performance controls that act on the last played slot or on all slots
- Dub FX chain: drive (soft to hard saturation) → filter (LP/BP/HP morph) → RE-201 style tape delay (tempo sync, wow, feedback up to 110 %) with a phaser on the echoes → spring reverb → limiter
- Configurable pad mapping: choose the note of pad 1 and flip the grid (made for the Intech Grid BU16)
- 439 automatable parameters: map everything from your DAW
- Kits: save and load all 16 slots as
.dgkitfiles, with their samples; 16-siren factory kit built in - Per-pad colours (eight colours) to mark groups of sounds
- Scalable UI (75–200 %)
