Troubleshooting
The plugin doesn't show up in my DAW.
Make sure the whole Dubgefahren.vst3 folder is in C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\
(not just a file from inside it), then rescan plugins. Dubgefahren is an instrument: look in the
instrument list, not under audio effects. It is 64-bit only.
Windows warns about the download. The binaries are not code-signed. Choose More info → Run anyway, or unblock the zip in its file properties before unzipping.
Pads don't react. By default the pads answer to notes 36–51. Check that your controller sends those notes to the track, or set Pad 1 note in the MIDI ▾ menu to the first note your controller sends. Notes outside the 16-note range are ignored. Some DAWs label note 36 as C1, others as C2.
The pads in the plugin are in a different order than on my controller. Use the MIDI ▾ menu: Pad 1 at top left flips the pad grid. The Intech Grid BU16 needs Pad 1 note 32 and Pad 1 at top left.
A pad is silent. An empty slot makes no sound: click the pad to choose Synth or a sample. A pad shown in orange has a sample file that is missing or unreadable; put the file back into the kit's sample folder and reopen the project or reload the kit. Also check the slot's Volume and that it is not muted by its choke group.
I can't add a sample ("export the kit first"). Samples live in a folder next to the kit file, so the kit needs a file first. Use Export once, then add samples. See Samples.
A sound doesn't stop. It is probably in Latch mode: tap its pad again. The PANIC button stops everything. Also check Latch on Stop: with Keep Playing latched sounds keep running after you stop the transport.
Panic only works every other press. Panic reacts to the parameter going from off to on. Map it to a momentary button that sends 127 on press and 0 on release, not to a toggle.
The delay keeps getting louder. That's feedback above 100 %: self-oscillation, a dub feature. The output limiter keeps it below −0.3 dBFS. Turn Delay Feedback below 100 % or reduce Delay Mix to tame it.
I hear a faint hiss with the delay. A little tape noise runs in the delay loop. It is inaudible at moderate feedback and only rings up when the feedback is high; lower Delay Feedback or Delay Mix.
Loud sounds get quieter when I turn Drive up. The Drive saturation compensates the level only partly: moderate signals get louder with the knob, very loud signals get slightly quieter at the top. Lower the slot volume or accept it as part of the sound. See Effects.
The phaser does nothing. Phaser Mix is 0 by default. Turn it up; the phaser only affects the delay echoes, so you also need some Delay Mix. See Effects.
The plugin window is wider than before. Version 0.6.0 made the window 20 % wider. A size saved by an older version opens wider; drag the bottom-right corner to resize.
My kits folder setting is ignored.
Check the JSON (backslashes doubled, valid syntax), that the folder exists, and that you edited the
config inside the installed bundle
(…\VST3\Dubgefahren.vst3\Contents\Resources\Dubgefahren.config.json). The config is read when the
plugin loads: reload it after editing. An invalid config produces a notice when you open the kit menu.
A kit won't load. The error message tells you why: not JSON, not a Dubgefahren kit, from a newer plugin version, not exactly 16 slots, an invalid sample file name, or a non-numeric value. Nothing is changed when loading fails.
Installing with build.ps1 install fails.
Run PowerShell as administrator, and close your DAW first: Windows can't replace a plugin DLL that is loaded.
