Slot Parameters

Every one of the 16 slots has the same 25 sound parameters plus a Source. In your DAW they appear as S01 Wave, S01 Pulse Width, … S16 Loop X-Fade (parameter IDs s01_wave … s16_xfade).

Source: Empty, Synth or Sample

A slot has one of three sound sources:

Source What it does
Empty Silent. Playing the pad makes no sound, triggers no choke group and is never latched.
Synth The dub siren described below.
Sample Plays an audio file; see Samples.

The source is the host parameter S01 Source (it is not automatable) and is chosen in the plugin window: click an empty pad to pick Synth or a sample; use the pad's right-click menu to clear it again.

How a siren is built (source: Synth)

 pitch = base pitch · 2^((LFO·depth + sweep + perf pitch) / 12)

The pitch is the heart of a dub siren: a base pitch, pushed up and down by a pitch LFO (the classic "wee-woo"), optionally with a pitch sweep at the start of every note (lasers, risers, drops). The resulting frequency is limited to 10 Hz – 18 kHz.

The slot editor shows the Synth parameters in four rows: OSC/AMP, LFO, SWEEP/TRIG and MIX.

Oscillator

Label Parameter Range Default Notes
Wave Wave Sine / Triangle / Saw / Square Square Saw and square are band-limited (no aliasing on high sirens).
Pitch Pitch 20 Hz – 5 kHz 440 Hz Base pitch; the LFO moves upwards from here.
Pulse Width Pulse Width 5 – 95 % 50 % Square wave only.

LFO (modulates pitch)

Label Parameter Range Default Notes
Shape LFO Shape Square, Triangle, Saw Up, Saw Down, Sample & Hold Square Square = classic two-tone siren; saw up/down = rising/falling siren; S&H = random pitches ("UFO").
Rate LFO Rate 0.05 – 40 Hz 2 Hz Used when Sync is off.
Sync LFO Sync off / on off Locks the LFO to the host tempo.
Sync Rate LFO Sync Rate 1/32, 1/16T, 1/16, 1/8T, 1/8, 1/4T, 1/4, 1/2, 1 Bar, 2 Bars, 4 Bars 1/8 Length of one LFO cycle; used when Sync is on.
Depth LFO Depth 0 – 48 semitones 12 How far above the base pitch the LFO goes.

The LFO output runs from 0 to 1, so the pitch moves between the base pitch and base + depth. Every (re)trigger restarts the LFO at the same phase, so a siren always starts the same way; Sample & Hold picks a new random value on every trigger and every LFO cycle.

Sweep (pitch envelope)

Label Parameter Range Default Notes
Amount Sweep Amount −48 … +48 semitones 0 Positive: starts higher and falls to the base pitch. Negative: starts lower and rises.
Time Sweep Time 10 ms – 10 s 0.5 s Duration of the sweep (linear in semitones).

Amp envelope

Label Parameter Range Default Notes
Attack Attack 0 – 5 s 5 ms Minimum 1 ms internally (avoids clicks).
Release Release 0 – 10 s 0.3 s Fade-out after note-off / latch-off / one-shot end.

Attack and release apply to samples as well.

Trigger

Label Parameter Range Default Notes
Mode Trigger Mode Gate / Latch / One-Shot Gate See Trigger Modes and Choke.
Length One-Shot Length 50 ms – 10 s 1 s One-Shot duration before the release starts (Synth).
Choke Choke Group None, 1–4 None See Trigger Modes and Choke.

Mix

Label Parameter Range Default Notes
Volume Volume −60 … +6 dB −6 dB −60 dB = muted.
Pan Pan L100 … R100 centre Equal-power panning.
FX-Send FX-Send 0 – 100 % 30 % Share of the slot that goes into delay and reverb. The rest bypasses them. Drive and filter always act on the whole signal.

Volume, pan and FX send are smoothed (~20 ms), so turning them live does not zipper.

Sample parameters (source: Sample)

For sample slots the editor shows the rows SAMPLE/AMP, LOOP/TRIG and MIX with a waveform strip. The parameters below only act on samples; details in Samples.

Label Parameter Range Default Notes
Tune Tune −24 … +24 semitones 0 Transposes the sample (it plays faster or slower). The siren ignores it.
Start Sample Start 0 – 1 0 Where playback starts, as a share of the sample length.
Loop Start Loop Start 0 – 1 0 Where the loop begins.
End Sample End 0 – 1 1 Where playback ends.
Loop Loop off / on off Repeats the loop section while the note is held.
Reverse Reverse off / on off Plays the sample backwards.
X-Fade Loop X-Fade 0 – 50 % 5 % Crossfade at the loop seam, as a share of the loop length.

The three position values are normally set by dragging the markers in the waveform strip.
