Docker and Portainer

Use the public prebuilt image for Linux Intel/AMD Docker hosts. You do not need to build Blank Box locally or sign in to GitHub to pull it.

  • For a new library with Docker Compose, use the Docker quick start and small signed setup ZIP.
  • For a new Portainer stack, follow Run Blank Box with Portainer. Choose Web editor and paste the standard Compose file, or select the repository and Compose path given there. We’ve tested the Portainer CE 2.45.1 Web editor on Linux/amd64.
  • Already running a locally built image? Follow Switch to the official Docker image with your existing settings and library.

The default fresh library uses one named data volume and user 1000:1000. Media folders, backups and custom user IDs are optional configuration. The default address opens only on the Docker host; choose trusted home-network access or your own private HTTPS route if you use another device.

Moving an existing Docker stack into Portainer reuses its current volume or bind folder on the same Docker host. Keep its numeric user and complete port, network and mount settings. Use the handover steps after the image update works. Do not delete its volume or run two containers against the same library.

Use checked updates with paired recovery points, and keep Portainer's saved definition synchronized with the accepted image and settings. Its image-update button does not create a recovery snapshot. Other managers and deployment modes need their own checks.
