Offline metapacks

Metapacks are optional reference databases you can use without an Internet connection. They help you look up titles and review facts while keeping your own collection separate from the reference data.

Community installation packages include Movies, Books, Music and TV Shows packs. They contain reference facts, not media files or artwork. Coverage varies by pack; a title may have limited facts, and an unknown title can always be entered manually.

Look up a title

Open Edit details → Find a match → Search Blank Box Database to search installed packs. Review the result before applying it. Equal titles or a similar year do not prove identity, an exact physical edition or ownership.

Facts from a confirmed match are saved with your library. Your corrections take priority during ordinary refresh. Removing the pack retains confirmed facts, owner artwork and collections.

Manage installed packs

Use Settings → Metadata to review installed packs, remove one or deliberately install a signed pack. Allow time for included reference databases on first startup. Existing libraries keep their chosen pack versions; restarts and software updates do not silently reinstall a pack you removed.

You can use Blank Box with no packs. Physical cataloging, owner-entered details, manual collections and connected sources do not require an offline reference database.

Update and recover

Core software and metapacks have independent, optional update paths. Verify a downloaded pack with the supported signed update tools before installing it.

A complete recovery point pairs saved catalog records with the installed pack assets. Keep the pair together so you can restore the same references. Pack data cannot restore missing source-drive media or supply provider cover images.
