- Jib sheet trimming
- Keep tell tales flowing at all times
- Alert skipper if pinching or sailing too low
- Call puff/lulls, waves, traffic ahead/behind
- Spinnaker: pole, halyard, setup/take down, fly spinnaker
- Main sail controls
- Cunningham: tighten for speed upwind, ease on downwind
- Outhaul: Tighten for speed upwind, ease on downwind
- Halyard: may ease on downwind or strong winds
- Boom vang: Tighten on upwind legs, Ease on downwind legs
- Get the spinnaker as far away from the boat as possible
- Keep a 6"-10" curl in the upper half of the luff
- Keep clews at even height. Center seam should be perpendicular to horizon
- Raise the pole on strong winds; lower it on light winds
- Inside tell tale angry => Trim in
- Outside tell tale angry => Ease out
- Jib fair lead: in general, start all the way forward unless overpowered. Controls jib twist.
- Top tell tales luff => move lead forward
- Bottom tell tales luff => move lead aft
- Jib halyard: raise 1-2 clicks if there's sail twist after trimming & moving jib leads
