- Set up spinnaker pole
- Guy: Attach fwd end to starboard line (the guy)
- Hook: Attach topping lift hook
- Mast Ring: attach back end to mast ring
- Pre-feed the guy (optional): pull guy so that fwd spinnaker clew is around forestay (helps to put electrical tape around forestay adjuster/extension)
- Release the snap shackle on spinnaker head on port
- Check spinnaker halyard for twists, fix them if needed
- RAISE spinnaker quickly, yell "made" when done
- Push spinnaker pole forward while middle crew/skipper pulls in the guy.
- Put guy under chain plate hook
- Once the spinnaker is up, its pole should be perpendicular to the wind (more or less aligned with the boom).
- Lower tip of pole in light winds, raise it in high winds.
